I think he is still playing Barbie dolls, because he sure doesn't cover WRs.

Re: Camp Cuts

Yea, with the LBs there was just too much depth. These guys will most certainly get a shot elswhere. I'm interested to see if the kid from Princeton/Keasey makes it.

What about Manny White, does he make the team as an extra H-Back?

My gut feeling is White makes the practice squad. They haven't shown him at any games, so I doubt any teams will try to sign him.

I didn't like the Newberry pick he looked to slow and stiff in his college highlights, I also have a strong feeling that White is on his way to the practice squad. I defiently like this kid Keasey, he may be our feel good player of the year, kid really looks like he knows what he's doing out there, and he's very quick, I can see William's finding a way to really utilize him.

Re: Camp Cuts

I remember Keasey on a couple of plays that really stand out. Hopefully he can stick it out as well as Aki Jones, he may be a sleeper too.

Speaking of which, when you re-enacted Friday's game, did you play crowd noise for when you had "LaVar's successful return" to the field? I hope so, because I know you're all about attention to detail.
You know I did! No detail too small... I even made a *whif* noise when I had ramsey throw the long ball...

Funny how this time of year THE ADE is always a popular topic on the boards. I know I may joke (at times), but NO ONE and I mean NO ONE can replace what THE ADE brings to the table for special teams. He is a frickin' Demon, Mr. Bigglesworth!

Re: Camp Cuts

As for Manny, I don't think we'll practice-suqad a fourth-rounder. I bet he makes the team outright.

A little surpised about Clifton SMith, but we have lots of folks at LB...

So you think he'll make the team - my only problem with that is they haven't palyed him much to evaluate him.

We cut Hawkins? I thought he was placed on injured reserve. I hope we pick up some CBs. We could be in trouble if opponents come out 5 wide.

That's why you play short zones and blitz. Fine with me to give the other team a low percentage chance to find the open guy while we pound their QB.

Re: Camp Cuts

Springs, Harris, Rogers (I think they'll be reversed pretty quick on the depth chart) Wilds, Jimoh, and Brown are the possibilities at CB. Rufus Brown needs to step up his game a bit, but I have seen some decent coveraged out of him in the preseason.

What really befuddles me is why in the hell did we sign another punter?? I thought we were having trouble deciding which of our great punters we have now to keep??!! I don't get why you would take up a roster spot from someone who may breakthrough in another game to occupy another punter.

Re: Camp Cuts

In Gibbs' post-practice presser on skins.com Gibbs stressed that this guy is someone Danny Smith knows, and someone who has been a holder for PATs/FGs. Also, he's worked with Albright before.

So clearly they're worried about the holder stuff. Gibbs also said they're getting a detailed second opinion from a doctor on Tupa's condition--they'll review it tonight/tomorrow. That may determine it.

Does anyone know who held PATs/FGs in the steelers game? Wonder if Tupa is done, and they're bringing in this guy for some last-game competition with Groom? Or maybe they're just not sold on Groom. We'll see.

As for Hawkins, they did the injury settlement IN ORDER TO release him. Don't quite know how it all works, but my guess is that if you're cut when injured, you get certain rights.

As for Manuel White, my guess is they see him in practice a lot, so that will be the key. Also, I think he plays specials. It would surprise me if they cut a 4th rounder, especially one who has to learn the complex Gibbs' H-back. Again, we'll see--we need a good young backup for Cooley, and we could use a legit FB for short yardage. Not sure that's really Cooley's thing...

sellers is a better blocker and pushing 290, i doubt white is going to fill the FB role unless he's the number 2, 3 or 4.
