Looks like Tampa is gearing up for their big Haynesworth run

Re: 2009 Free Agents
Yup, hopefully they'll save us from ourselves (like the Bengals did last year) and make Haynesworth an offer he cant refuse. signing haynesworth is about they only thing they can do to meet the salary floor this year. what are they now, 60M under the cap?
As far as theyre released players, id be interested in Cato June. Id certainly rather him play OLB for 2M/year than have Jason Taylor play there at 8.5.

Re: 2009 Free Agents
The Redskins should do anything to ensure that they have a solid offensive line in 2009. As mentioned by some others, moving Samuels to RT would be a smart move. It's going to be interesting to see how the Redskins handle the draft this year. They only have 4 picks.

I think our best bet is to draft an OT with our first pick, start him at RT this year and if he looks like a stud, move him to LT and Samuels to RT in 2010.

... June is a guy I'd be very interested in... over Boley and even over Crowell cuz of those knee issues. Interesting possibility.

Re: 2009 Free Agents
I wonder if we'll dodge a bullet by not signing Haynesworth, just like when we did not trade for Dre Bly or Lance Briggs. Although if AH goes to Tampa and has a Pro Bowl year, I can see people complaining about it. I think I'd almost put money on it (almost, we're in bad economic times).

Cato June, LB 2008 Scouting Report - Scouts Inc. Grade: 68 | Key Alert: None Comment: June moved from the weak outside linebacker position he was playing in Indianapolis to the strong outside linebacker position for the Buccaneers. He is undersized for the position, but plays with good instincts and is very athletic. He plays with a good motor and is very competitive going to the ball. He has the intelligence to play on either side and not miss a beat. He does a good job of recognizing blocking schemes and is quick to locate the level of the ball. He takes good angles and can adjust on the move. He can struggle when he has to take on and defeat blockers while at the point of attack and generally has to run around most blockers rather than take them on. He is not the strongest tackler and does not always come under control before contact, which can cause him to miss his share of tackles. He looks athletic when dropping into space and does a good job of defending the pass. He can close on the ball and shows ball skills when he gets to the area. While he probably fits the weak side linebacker spot better, he can be effective playing on the strong side, as well.

Re: 2009 Free Agents
Ken Lucas maybe gone from Carolina and will soon be on the long list to replace Carlos Rogers and/or Shawn Springs.
Also, DJ Hackett was released. Maybe, he'll come crawling to Zorn? |
