Re: Coronavirus (sports edition) thread

Since Covid is rearing its head, I figured I would pull this thread back up.
37 positive tests in one day.

The blame game is so lame. Every team has had Covid outs, Dallas had half their coaching staff out at one point and they were a highly valued team. Until this last week we were one of the least affected teams.

This is just the world we live in right now.

The excuse game is so lame, Sweat will pump cocktails all day for any edge that isn't illegal but he won't take a shot that billions of people the world over have just to guarantee he doesn't have to miss two games? Weak.

And it's a huge difference with vaccinated vs not as far as being able to get back into the lineup more quickly. If you're vaccinated two negative tests in a 24 hr period and you're back. Non vaccinated you're out 10 days at a minimum. So let's not just toss up our hands and say oh well, this is just our world right now.

What exactly makes that clear?

I wouldn't say that's exactly Nostradamus-like. It was pretty inevitable for all teams.

This isn't clear at all. It's just picking the lowest hanging fruit.

I'm just giving kudos to an accurate prediction - not saying he predicted something against the odds.

It's classic Redskins - we waste half the season playing mediocre football, get our shit together for a month and then when we're in the thick of the playoff fight we lose half our d-line to the covid list. Really only one conclusion I can draw.

Fuck Dan Snyder.

Fuck Dan Snyder.
I'll always be in that boat...

It is frustrating now doubt.

With Montez though, I don't think there was any guarantee he was going to play against the Cowboys, just coming off a broken jaw and not having practiced at all in over a month. He may or may not be available this weekend, but again he hasn't been on the practice field yet - to my knowledge.

There's an uptick in cases all over the planet though, so this isn't something that is isolated to WFT. Every team has been hit, some harder than others. Contrary to what some want to believe, this is just our world right now.

I am not excusing Sweat, but I am not blaming him for the spread because we don't know that. Any player can carry and spread it, the vaccine mitigates its effects and that's a good thing. The NFL has a two tiered structure which in my opinion is unjustified. It made sense when the vaccine was hoped to be a limiter, but it isn't so why separate rules for the two groups.
