Re: Raiders to waive Deangelo Hall
I'm wavering on Walker. On the one hand he would probably have a more immediate impact than Thomas. On the other hand, Thomas (and Davis) need to get out there and play and take their lumps.

If he could keep his mouth shut, I'd love to see DH as a punt returner with the Skins. But I doubt he'd keep his mouth shut.

Re: Raiders to waive Deangelo Hall
I believe this is something we would have to look at. I know at this point, we are pretty comfortable with our corners. However, Springs is getting older. I wouldn't be objected to seeing what it takes to bring him in, if reasonable. The kid has talent and is young. You put him, Carlos, Smoot, and Springs and that is a pretty talented secondary. Especially for seasons to come if Springs retires or is sent packing for money reasons.
I really think the veteran leadership, along with the work ethic of Portis, Moss, Randel el, Carter and the younger leaders of this team, would have him in line rather quickly. |

I don't see D Hall being much of an issue. I really think we could get him for a reasonable contract and willing to re-prove himself.

Re: Raiders to waive Deangelo Hall
Hall is a me first, diva in the mold of TO and Chad Johnson. He should have been a WR. He's still young and one of the fastest DBs in the league, but he's definitely lost some of his mojo. The only game I saw of Hall this season, rookie (and fellow Hokie) Eddie Royal absolutely schooled him.

Welcome to the board 47Fan! You're right, he cost us the state championship.

This may be quite possible considering our #5 WR may end up on injured reserve anyways. My questions regarding Walker What is his current contract? Can we afford it? Is he likely to get through waivers?

Re: Raiders to waive Deangelo Hall
Correct me if I'm wrong, but if they're getting cut we don't absorb their contract. Both of these contracts are huge as of now, but if they get waived we have to negotiate a new deal with them.

Yes, because nobody is going to pony up that kind of dough for him right now. He is going to clear waivers and become a free agent. |

Re: Raiders to waive Deangelo Hall
Anyone else remember a few years ago when Hall, then a returning Pro Bowler, got into a training camp fight with a rookie where he punched the guy in the head (even though the guy had a helmet on) and nearly broke his own hand?
I don't want someone that stupid on my team!!!

Re: Raiders to waive Deangelo Hall
I bet the Cowboys go for him.
Jerry Jones loves headcases and big names, and the Dallas secondary is hurting.

I know you love Hokies, and thats fine, but Hall clearly can't play defense in the NFL. His only value is as a special teamer.

Re: Raiders to waive Deangelo Hall
But Devin doesn't even know the playbook. He's running the wrong routes, which apparently led to an INT against Pitt. If him taking lumps hurts us like that, I say ride the pine. Of course, with Moss hurt our receiving corps drops off like the Grand Canyon, so we really have no choice but to play him. With Moss, ARE, Cooley, and then three pass catchers taken with the first three picks, I would have never envisioned us having this kind of discussion. Damn.

Re: Raiders to waive Deangelo Hall
That was late last night and it's not very clear re-reading it.
Here's what I meant. Hall is a good player to have around if things are going well for a team. If he's on a bad team, it makes things worse. All I can think right now is how the same people were calling Randy Moss a cancer. He went into a good situation in New England, now he's putting his arm around the young QB and working with him. I think Hall is talented. He has had an absolutely abysmal year and I'm not planning on giving him a lucrative contract. I'd give him a fair offer take it or leave it. However, lets remember. All CBs are arrogant. They have to be. I wouldn't want it any other way. If you get beat, you have to forget it and still think you're going to shut the guy down. People show it in different ways, but arrogance is part of the position. As far as being a Hokie fan. Not really. I pull for them since they're a local team, but I'm probably more aligned with Florida since my whole family on my Dad's side went there. Hence the Spurrier love (who I still stick by! More PPG than Gibbs!).
