we haven't had a good, solid run stopper in the middle since Butz and Grant left. and with Grimm, you are talking about a versatile lineman that should probably be in the hall

After the 3rd rd, you aren't necessarily looking for starters, and we need some, so probably have some free agents coming in. I can't see Haynesworth leaving Tenn though.
That's exactly what i was thinking. We have some young talent in parts of our team but we need to focus our draft on our lines. Anything after the 3rd or 4th round is hit or miss. We don't have a second round pick this year. So the first round is best overall player on oline or dline.

We'll have plenty of time in the slow offseason to hash this over. Plenty of time.

Re: What should we draft?

I went with a DT, but only because I think we can find an OLB and a versatile young OL in free-agency. Without a dominate DT in the middle to collapse the pocket we're never gonna get a pass rush of the edges imo.

Re: What should we draft?

The Redskins need to strengthen both offensive and defensive lines. Offensive line being most critical. Center and right tackle are weaknesses. Outside linebacker is also a weakness.

Redskins need LBs desperately. They need to Marcus Washington. I think he will be released. Linebackers will be number one priority. Second, ofensive line, and third defensive line.

i agree but i think it might be best avail at either OL or DL, both to me are equally shallow in depth. I just am not a big believer in A Carter and J Taylor is better suited as a situational pass rusher.

Didnt they fran tag him this year b/c they couldnt agree on an extension? i did not follow haynesworth that much this off season but i thought they tagged him with the understanding that he will be gone next year if they dont pony up big bucks.

haynesworth would be sweet, hes only what 27?

I agree with most except, C, G, LB.
You can get great value outside of 1st round.
And I agree no one would touch a WR in the first

I say OT, Dline: best player available
I voted OT since our DT are young and DE are sometimes a crap shoot plus our defense is pretty good...its still our offense that needs help.
Imagine in a couple years if our 2nd rounders developed, AND we had a couple young Olinemen to protect Campbell so he could throw to them.
Not to mention, Buges aint gunna be around forever, get your young guys going next year. I agree Heyer is decent, but he'll be a great 3rd OT for years. Jansen is falling into that category too, unless we run 65% of the time which I doubt Zorn has the patience for.

But let's be honest, lateral mobility is our biggest complaint on him. As a guard/center he won't have to chase guys on the outside. He can continue to smash people in the run game and his pass-blocking will improve by default on the inside. That's the case I'm making.
This, my friend is a very good point.
Remember in preseason, they were using Jansen as a backup center?
They weren't using him at guard so much.
Mobility is sometimes more a factor at guard then Tackle because of all the pulling and usually those guys need to be HUGE...Jansen is not HUGE....which explains why Center would be a good role for him.
It is true that Rabach hasn't done well this year at center and Jansen has stunk at RT in pass protection, but we aint that far off.
Heyer is not a great run blocker, which is why he is a backup considering we are still technically a running team....so, if we drafted an OT in the first round, you could see the rookie starting, Heyer backing up, Jansen either taking over Center or restructuring his contract to become backup center.
Jansen is a WAY better run blocker than Rabach...in fact his run blocking skills are quite good...I just dont see us cutting a guy like that.

Maybe if the "situation" was that he was playing Madden.

hmmm....8 starts, 1 sack I believe.
lets cut down his plays situationally ....statistically....that would be zero sacks....not to mention he's a huge liablity in run defense.
All that for a 2nd and 6th rounder?

He gets the Redskins "Bust of the Year" award.
Too bad the Tuna gets our 2nd rounder to replace him with a 21 year old with 10 plus year potential....heck, our rookie 7th rounder would easily have 1 sack so far this year.

You got it Hog1, but since other teams know about him too, it's going to be a hard-fought game to get him.

Re: What should we draft?

Best available of these:

Defensive Tackle
Offensive Tackle

Or trade the entire draft class for Kris Jenkins.
