I think we should keep him and pay him. He's still a great player and finally getting healthy. A 2 year deal for 8 mill. We will see many more sacks from JT.

Isn't that what Shawn Alexander did?

Re: Blache Hopes Taylor Returns Next Year

here is the bottom line. who is it up to? does he want to play one more year? if so, then the ball falls into the redskins court. is he worth 8 million? not with his production. did he add anything to our defense? that's up to the coaching staff. you could probably sign 3 draft picks with that 8 million. or a pretty nice free agent. its all in what the skins management sees in Taylor

And, of course, no release fee since he's already been paid his bonus by the Dolphins.

I still think Jason Taylor can be worth 8 million to this team, but you know, if you need the money to sign someone to do the job better, there's no harm in calling an end to the experiment.

Agreed. He played well against Philly. That's only one game but he's been hurt as you mentioned. He also has nads, trying to play when he was too hurt.

bryan (cumberland, Md.): Jason Taylor, Brett Farve do you see either returning next year ?

Matt Mosley: (12:15 PM ET ) Taylor's not going back to Washington. I'm pretty certain about that. I bet he'll retire. Favre will drag this out and make a big production -- like he always does.

I honestly was hoping Blache would retire after this year. he can talk all he wants to about his top 5 defense, but in the end, he was the biggest handicap for our defense all year. I saw a post on extremeskins with a link to footballoutsiders that had a much more comprehensive set of statistics to rank defenses and ours was ranked 11th, which seemed closer to what we really are.

Agreed!! Jerry Gray should be promoted to DC so we don't lose him, unless he gets a HC gig which I doubt he's ready for. I think Gray is a young up and coming DC if given the chance.

Re: Blache Hopes Taylor Returns Next Year

Of course you try to reduce Taylor's cap hit through a paycut first, and to the extent that doesn't work you try to extend him to keep him in a Skins uniform. Matty's two year scenario makes sense, you can pay him a good amount up front and still get that cap hit down. Now, the CBA comes into play, limiting your potential moves a bit. But I think the last thing you want to do is let him go. It was clear at the end of the season when he got healthy Blache had figured out a way to use him advantageously. I tell you one thing, there's only one way for him to go from 2008: Up.

Bring him back no matter what! Snyder don't care about the money man! I would just be pissed that we gave up 2 draft picks to watch him walk away after an injured season!

I don't think Blache ever bragged about having a top 5 defense. Without the defense, this team would have gone 4-12.

Re: Blache Hopes Taylor Returns Next Year

thats awesome. how often do you hear someone say that they didnt deserve his contract. he'll be back and for a lot less. i think he'll work hard this offseason and come back real strong. he'll make all of our d-line better once he gets healthy.
