If you notice Smoot, there is very little mentioned on football shows about the Redskins having the 1# defense. There quick to mention Dallas last year, but now we are going to step it up a notch for the Bengals and the rest of the them. Chad Johnson had his way against Champ Bailey. Look for Springs and Smoot to shut them down on the passing game. Right now, I get pumped up watching the defense.

I actually prefer it when the Skins don't have the ball, they're more fun to watch then

Exactly. What I have noticed about Smoot and Springs is that they are some of the best open field tacklers in the league. They also play the ball as much as the receiver and that's why Smoot has led in INT's for the past three seasons. On third downs, I always call out his name in anticipation that the ball will be thrown in his vicinity. He's probowl bound.

If he does it, we win.
He usually wears his helmet on the sidelines, probably to hear the play calls

I don't see us winning more than a couple games w/ Brunell in there. I hope your hunch is right. Why wait til we are eliminated from the playoffs to bring Ramsey in? I hope it happens this week!! The players have to know that a change is needed, but they are sticking together and saying the right things.

Unless Brunell improves dramatically in the Cinci game, I have a feel that Ramsay could be the man for the following 2 games. Unfair as that maybe, putting Ramsay in with our two toughest opponents, I really believe he gives us our best chance to win those 2 games.

I agree. I hate to say put Ramsey in there for the Philly/Pitt games, because it really is unfair. But if we beat Cincinati, at 4-5 were very much in the hunt for the playoffs, because the NFC is weak right now.

Gman, unfortunately if we win Brunell will stay at QB barring injury. Gibbs won't make a QB change especially after a W.

I have been trying to avoid these bash Brunnell posts 'cause I think we are pretty much beating a dead horse (or Brunnell's arm - each has about the same life in them).

I am no fan of Brunnell BUT I am a fan of avoiding the musical chairs of the past and showing some consistency and letting his qb's (including Ramsey) know that adversity will not mean a benching.

With that said, at some point, Ramsey has to be thinking "am I that bad?? I may throw an intecerption but I am sure I can damn well score some TD's passing too."

Fellas, this might be Brunells "breakout" game. I have this weird feeling.

Check out his numbers last time he played the Bengals.

19/28--223 yds--67.9%--7.96 yds per pass--3 tds--0 Int's

Of course that was 2002, but hey you never know.

I don't wish an injury on the guy, but he does look pretty fragile out there. I said it before I have funny feeling that this might be Brunells breakout game.

Maybe this week.
I had the same feeling, especially during the second half of the game, when there were obvious passing situations and we didn't pass. And to have your running back throw a touchdown pass! I know we've done things like that before. But there were times at which I thought Gibbs was basically saying that he didn't think Brunell could get the job done, and it showed in his play calling.
