Re: Cards post game
If those are the 4 options, Cousins clears the other 3 by miles especially during his time here. I'm not throwing a parade for Howell just yet.

Re: Cards post game
In his first year starting or his first start vs the Browns in 2012? Either way he was better than Howell

So the guy who threw for 344 played worse than the guy who threw for 173? |

Re: Cards post game
Actually, let me eat crow, because I obviously can't f*cking read stats. Kirk threw more than double the yards than Baker, score as many TDs as him, but had 1 INT and two lost fumbles.

Why the fuck are we talking about Kirk Cousins. People just can’t quit him.

Re: Cards post game
Not that anybody ever questioned it but Sam Howell is tough.
Dude got hit a lot today but stayed poised and ran the offense… in the rain. He obviously has a ways to go but I like that he’s tough and at least trying to allow a play to develop when he’s getting hit. Not just scrambling in a panic. If he can speed up his internal clock I think he could be pretty good.

Re: Cards post game
God I hate to indulge this but... kirk also had Kyle during those times.. last time I checked kyle>eb until otherwise. Sam will be fine. Im glad we won. It was ugly, I was sure they were blowing it but they didn't. A TON to improve upon but that's why they play the game. I do not expect to beat Denver next week even as poor as they looked today. Albeit the road and the combo of tweedle dee & tweedle dumb vs. Sean Payton weighs heavy in that feeling and less to do with our roster.... nonetheless. I hope I'm wrong.

Re: Cards post game
Well Fuller and Samuel are free agents next year, so no savings to be had. They have huge amounts of cap next year so no need to cut players for cap space, cut them based on performance not cap hit. Drafting OL and TE 1st and 2nd respectively would seem to be the best scenario. But if they don't improve this year there will be a clearout and every position is up for grabs. If Ron is still here he will pick a DL and a project LB.

Re: Cards post game
At least the defence started fast this year, hopefully keeps us in every game assuming they can keep it up

Re: Cards post game
howell's got an arm, but had an up and down game (not unexpected). OL was somehow worse than I thought they'd be (and I didn't have a high opinion to begin with). D looked fine.
They can clean it up some (ie, play better, move howell around a bit, run more), but OL will continue to be a problem we won't be able to fix this season, which sucks. Still, it's a win. edit: saying the D looked fine is disingenuous, DL looked great (even if it was against a scrub QB). It's good to know that money hasn't been wasted. |

Re: Cards post game
I can't help but worry about Howell - I thought that cheap shot might've rung his bell a bit because there were some moments that made him look bad afterwards. Of course he did enough to win too which is a good sign, but I don't trust the NFL when they say players don't have concussions - see the Tua saga from the last couple years.
