Champ wanted out cause they lose all the damn time. I've gone to bat for Champ earlier on this site before and you didn't even make your first post based on the trade. You're not even consistent in your arguement.
definitely true

candidate and bell both can't carry a big load or block...they're both just little fast guys

Re: Portis Overrated?

You tried to point that out drives stall when we give the ball to Clinton Portis. I have a question for you. How many drives go well when we let Mark Brunell drop back all the time? He hasn't had a consistent game in weeks and he looked bad against the Rams. So tell me again how they shouldn't run Portis.

I give up the Redskins are going to the Super Bowl and Clinton Portis is a Hall of Famer.

Cause that's what I said. Didn't I say Champ wanted out cause they lose all the time? That's right in the quote that you put in your post. I, however, do believe that Portis will be a hall of fame back by the time he's done.

Re: Portis Overrated?

Anthony Chance, all of your posts in this thread are nothing short of asinine. First off, Portis has been durable enough to go for 1300 yards or more in every single season, and he's on pace to do it again this year. His yards per carry this year are back up to good levels, 4.3 per carry. That's more than enough to move the chains, note that Tomlinson is at 4.1 this year.

But the main reason you're so off base is because you COMPLETELY IGNORE the intangibles and dirty work that Portis brings. Who picks up blitzers twice his size? Who hustles and makes TD saving tackles on fumble returns? He can catch the ball, he can run, he's a great blocker. He is one of the most complete backs in the game, yet you just want to focus on running. If you're a running back and running is all you care about, first off, your QB is going to be injured an awful lot. Secondly, you're not going to win many games.

Pay attention to the little things man, there's so much more to pro football than the stupid statistics. How many RBs can do this (click and scroll down to see photo) to blitzing linebackers? Enough said.

How dare you question Brunell. He is one of the best things that Washington has seen in years at the QB position. Just because he's not throwing for 300 yds and 3 TDs every week does not make him inconsistent. Gibbs never sends out many options for Brunell, he is stuck on this maximum protection thing. Brunell seldom make stupid mistakes like many of the quarterbacks in the NFL, thats why he has one of the best interception per attempt ratios.

Thats what makes a QB good if you ask me, he should lead the NFC in the Pro Bowl hands down.

I'll bet his numbers would be better if he were given the opportunity to call his own plays.

You make a good point, I say no more.
I'm no longer anti Portis, I must draw my attention to whoever took a shot at Brunell.

Re: Portis Overrated?

Yeah, man, 156 yards passing...that's what it's all about, but he didn't throw a pick, so that makes it okay. He hasn't thrown for over 200 yards in 3 weeks and they're 1 and 2 in that span. He's also 3 and 6 in his last nine, but you'd write that off because he doesn't turn it over. Whatever man.

Do you prefer Heath Shuler, John Friesz, Gus Frerotte, Jeff Hostetler, Trent Green, Brad Johnson, Rodney Peete, Jeff George, Tony Banks, Kent Graham, Shane Matthews, Patrick Ramsey, Danny Wuerffel, Tim Hasselbeck and Rob Johnson.

Like I said he is the best thing that we have seen in years

Re: Portis Overrated?

clinton portis, from what i've seen and heard, is also a great teammate and a good locker room guy. both of those traits are also very important on a joe gibbs coached team.

Exactly. I prefer to judge QBs based on winning.
