very very COUNTRY VANILLA BEAN Vanilla, frikkin running the same dive play within the 5 yd line. And when he tried to show that he had imagination, the trick plays he called looked absolutely ridiculous, silly and pathetic.

Re: ARE: "Zorn never had a real chance"

Why does ARE run sideline to sideline with the football but his mouth runs north-south?

Re: ARE: "Zorn never had a real chance"

I heard Zoe Alexander on 106TheFan talk about Zorn and how he just wasn't a great leader and his speeches were very uninspired. Basically he said Zorn is a great position coach, but he's not a head coach. He was very up front and candid about it.

Tre Johnson was on the show another day recalling the Spurrier era as pure comedy. He remembered during the season the offense was headed out to practice and a bad storm hit, old ball coach turned to his staff and the offensive unit and called it off right on the spot. The defensive staff said that practice was still on for them and they were obvi pissed. Another time it was so cold out it started to sleet. Spurrier turned to Johnson and said what the hell is this stuff? Johnson chuckled and said it's sleet coach, that's what we get up here from time to time.

Yeah, I think Spurrier was definitely worse than Zorn.

Spurrier was 12-20, Zorn was 12-20.

Steve Spurrier at least won the National Championship. Hard to see Zorn doing something like that at any level.

The never ending lip smack ( he kinda loks like a duck ) by Spurrier is classic. They replay again and again on Top 10 College Coach Busts ( a show deicdated to the coaches who came from college but failed to make it in the NFL ) on NFL Network. It's hilarious.

I had a bad feeling we were going to be bad with Zorn simply when the guys were flying around in the golf cart. I think it was Randy Thomas and Jon Jansen? Thought he would have said something, but he seemed to not even care. Definitely didn't like the image then, first year coach, thought he would have been more serious about it.

Let's face it, without Marvin Lewis in 2002 we probably would have been much worse. I think he basically held things together that year. And then year 2 was a complete shit show by SS.

Re: ARE: "Zorn never had a real chance"

Having spent lots of time during the Spurrier years with the Redskins...I would say Marvin Lewis definitely ran things. Spurrier just didn't want to put in the effort. That was probably the most frustrating thing about him, that he didn't try.

Though I didn't get the same access to Zorn as to other coaches, he seems to remind me much more of Norv Turner during his Redskin years. A good guy who really worked hard to be successful but just didn't have the right leadership qualities and it showed.

Yeah I was listening to one of the players on the radio a few weeks ago. I forgot the guys name but he was here during SS's years. He said that SS didn't want to practice when the weather was bad so he took the offense off the field while the defense stayed out and practiced. I'm still amazed that SS got an NFL job and was paid 5 mil per year over Marvin Lewis.

Re: ARE: "Zorn never had a real chance"

Easy to look back and complain how badly the coaches sucked. Zorn was a good guy, but was just in over his head. There's no substitute for experience.. And now he's got that experience, several million dollars, a new job 20 miles north with a good QB and *an offensive line*. Good for him, he'll do just fine.

I agree we're better without him, but I hate to see people spit on his shadow... I blame the man who hired him in the first place.

What I wrote beginning of last year, gives you a sense of life under Spurrier

Isn't it amazing we're still talking about Spurrier...and Daseal has nothing to do with it?

And can we please stop referring to him as SS...don't want people thinking I was paid 5 mil when the truth is Matty only pays me 3 mil

Yeah I agree with Smoot. Let's ban referring to Steve Spurrier as SS. We only have one SS around here and his name is Smoot.

Quit trying to confuse me!

Zorn had a chance. Ramsey had a chance. It was Gibran Hamdan who never had a chance!
