Love this move! JT for 2 years is better than any of this year's 2nd round picks so a 2nd rounder next year (hopefully a pick in the bottom third of the round) is a great deal. As for his detriment to the run game, expect him to play LB in Goalline or short yardage situations. He's been an OLB in the 3-4 recently so he would actually make the short yardage run D better.

This brings up a question for Chris Wilson, as what will happen to him? Since P. Daniels was not going to play as pass rusher - when D plays that package, then Chris Wilson comes in.. But now we have 2 premier rushers, what will happen to him? I'm not saying that we would release him or anything like that but I believe that would stunt his growth on the field..

You have to wonder how we did this so quickly. I mean we must have been in the talks for a couple weeks because it doesn't make sense that we could do this so quickly when teams have been trying to move Taylor for months. Also when we didn't give the dolphins more than they were being offered before. Again, good job front office

I am ok with the 2nd. It's not like we traded for a chump. Is he a downside guy? Yes but we didn't trade a 1st (our m.o. usually) and we got a high charcter guy who will bring something to the table almost guaranteed. If we get one good year it was an ok deal if we get two then it was a good deal. If he gets hurt and sucks then that's life. If he just plain blows then we're cursed and it doesn't matter anyways to me.

How strange, we lose two DE’s to season ending injuries and we actually improve at the position.

re: Redskins trade for Jason Taylor (updated)

I really like this move but do have a couple of concerns.

I was reading an article earlier today on the Redskins official site that said that Zorn's practices were going to be more up tempo and have more contact, especially in the trenches. I just hope that these 2 very early injuries are just a fluke and there are not more to come. I don't know much about NFL practices but maybe it is better to ease into full pads with contact. On the other hand, I have always liked coaches who work the players hard.

I also worry about stopping the run. How nice would it be to still have Wynn right now?

All in all, I think this is going to make our entire D a LOT better.

Well, today's practices were half-pads, and apparently PD just got his leg tied up with someone on the line. I don't think practice intensity had much to do with his injury, especially on the very first play. And Buzbee's ruptured achilles occurred without contact while he was just backpedaling, so that's definitely a fluke.

That being said, I hope Zorn and Co. use this as an opportunity to explain to the players how critical it is to stay well hydrated, stretch thoroughly, and to properly communicate each and every physical issue that comes up to the doctors/training staff in order to receive proper treatment. Taking care of their bodies is absolutely mandatory. Fluke injuries occur, but you can cut down the likelihood by taking good care of yourself and paying attention to your body.
