re: Redskins trade for Jason Taylor (updated)
I really like this move but do have a couple of concerns.
I was reading an article earlier today on the Redskins official site that said that Zorn's practices were going to be more up tempo and have more contact, especially in the trenches. I just hope that these 2 very early injuries are just a fluke and there are not more to come. I don't know much about NFL practices but maybe it is better to ease into full pads with contact. On the other hand, I have always liked coaches who work the players hard. I also worry about stopping the run. How nice would it be to still have Wynn right now? All in all, I think this is going to make our entire D a LOT better.

BTW - if JC gets hurt tomorrow expect to see a #4 on this team.

I’m actually anxious to hear more players opinions on the tempo of practice, it sounds pretty rough out there. I hope that it does not have a negative effect on team morale, especially if there are more injuries early in camp.

I like this deal a lot. Its gonna be weird seeing another Taylor and it not being #21.

Daniels' injury could be a blessing in disguise.

I'm still not a fan of this deal, but I spin it this way: at least we didn't give up a mid round pick to go after a guy who really wouldn't help us in the short term and has no development potential.

The idea of Carter and Taylor coming off the edges... wow I'm super pumped right now.

Re: Redskins trade for Jason Taylor (updated)
It's going to be great if we can get 10 point leads into the second half. That was actually a pretty significant problem last year.
The pass rusher is sort of like the bullpen in baseball. Having it is always a weapon, but it really earns its pay when the game is being won late.

And it doesn't hurt on those 3rd and longs when you need that extra pressure.

I wonder what # he's going to take. I doubt AC is gonna give up #99.

Re: Redskins trade for Jason Taylor (updated)
Taylor coming off the left side is exciting. He's used to the right end spot, but the three other QBs in the division are all right handed throwers. Our D has been 9th or better 3 out of the last 4 seasons, and that's with basically no backside QB pressure. Now we get fierce pass rush from both sides. He and AC bookending that line is gonna be fun to watch. This is a great move for us, especially if he plays two seasons. (btw Taylor hasn't missed a start this decade).

Re: Redskins trade for Jason Taylor (updated)
Well our pass rush certainly has improved with the addition of Taylor. Still, definitely feel bad for Daniels, an underappreciated run-stopping DE whose career may have just ended considering his age; and Buzbee a local kid trying to make it in the league.
This isn't a dumb move by any means by the front office, considering the cards they were dealt. But someone will have to step up on the run defense. Evans?

Re: Redskins trade for Jason Taylor (updated)
Blessing in disguise? How? The guy has been dancing all off season. Plus he wants to only play one more year. This is why you have draft picks waiting in the wings when your 50 year old DE does down. And don't give me any Buzbee talk cause he didn't even see the field last year. He was a practice squad player. I'm talking about a draft pick that can step right in. What about Evans?? You don't see the NYG trading for anyone once Strahan stepped down. That's cause they prepared for his retirement. I think depending on Daniels to make it through another year was a mistake and this trade was a knee jerk reaction. Awful trade.
