Re: Portis Out To Prove Redskins Wrong
For a guy who made 8 million a year almost, you'd expect more effort. Enjoy these gems.

Re: Portis Out To Prove Redskins Wrong
We're going to take a couple of plays from his 6 year career here to question his effort?

Re: Portis Out To Prove Redskins Wrong
Yeah cherry picking a couple of plays out of 1667 carries here? C'mon. I'm sure we could post countless plays of him smoking guys on blocks or running over defenders. Give me a break.

You're probably right, I guess it was a poor shot at Portis. At some point, its obvious he stopped caring and started taking dives. (or at least appears that way) |

Re: Portis Out To Prove Redskins Wrong
He obviously wasn't right physically last year. I really think the concussion situation spooked him and he just wasn't the same after that.

Re: Portis Out To Prove Redskins Wrong
Portis was the focal point of our offense for the majority of his time here. He often faced 8 man fronts, lethargic support from our passing game and was asked to use his 205 lbs frame like a 230 lbs back. The lack of appreciation for what he brought to this franchise is quite disheartening.
Career: 113 games, 2230 attempts, 9923 yards, 4.5 avg per carry, 75 TD's,490 first downs, 19 fumbles lost. Might have been a HOF if........

Re: Portis Out To Prove Redskins Wrong
I disagree with most. I believe Portis can still get it done. I agree with US, going the younger route but without a torrain I would keep Portis here.. if a team with a line signs him he WILL be good next year in a 2 back system. I think alot of fans do not give him the credit he deserves for what he did for us. Knock him cuz he's.been hurt and worn down.... smh that's ppl for u....

Re: Portis Out To Prove Redskins Wrong
Why is when someone leaves, or is released all of the sudden they are no good, done, washed up, has been blah blah blah. Are you (not all, some) so color blind to only see things in burgandy and gold? Portis is the Redskins 2nd all time rusher in Skins history. He gave a ton to this organization. He was injured, no question, but most of those injuries came playing all out 100% busting his ass. He may be a PR idiot, but he gave everything he had to this organization, and carried us to the playoffs those two years. I hope he goes somewhere and plays well and finishes his career on a good note. Wanting to play against your old team is a natural thing. I for one am glad we had him and think if he is healthy, there wouldn't be any problem for him to be a very productive running back this year and next.

Re: Portis Out To Prove Redskins Wrong
I'll always appreciate what he gave us, he was part of the few bright spots we had this past decade. But I would love to know what was discussed w/mgmt. before he was released. Was he offered a reduced salary to stay? If he was I think it's fair to criticize him. If he thinks he's still a starting back he might want to take a look at the clips that NC skins put up. He's not at this point.
He was overpaid here for a few years, would've been nice to see him stay as a 3rd down back at lower salary. I know things don't work that way. He at least sounds like he understands the skins need to get younger. |

Re: Portis Out To Prove Redskins Wrong
Much of the distention associated with Portis is not centered around his paying ability. His abilities and production on the field [at his position] goes unmatched except for one other player. The whispers about Portis has mainly been in reference to his antics and his uncanny ability to create controversy, traits some of his fanbase gradually grew weary of.

Re: Portis Out To Prove Redskins Wrong
With time, he'll be remembered as a character & a great player, which will make him somewhat of a DC legend. I don't think he said much that people will remember in 10-20 years.
