Re: Portis Out To Prove Redskins Wrong
haha....nobody wants a washed up RB who's wheels have fallen off.
See Edgerrim James, Shaun Alexander and mostly any other RB at or above 30 years old. The only exceptions I've seen have been LT and T. Jones, and truth is Jones is probably done for considering his production last year. This will be LT's last year as well I imagine because he broke down the second half of last season. Portis would still be good if Joe Gibbs didn't run him into the ground. That's why that 2 back system does wonders for a team. |

Bring it on CP.
Rogers sure is burning some bridges eh? He's never been the sharpest tack. |

Re: Portis Out To Prove Redskins Wrong
If I were the Eagles I would sign him. He is going to come cheap and could play at a high level in spats.

Re: Portis Out To Prove Redskins Wrong
Yeah he's capable of playing well for stretches, but unless he goes out and runs for 1500 and scores 10 TDs, he's not going to be proving the Skins wrong for letting him go and moving on with younger legs.

Re: Portis Out To Prove Redskins Wrong
1500 yard bar? Clinton Portis is 29...if his injuries are healed and he gets time on the field I am sure he is capable of giving you 1100 yards and 8TDs. To prove the Redskins wrong he only needs to get more yards and TDs than the Redskins starter. Let's hope Torain stays up.

But speaking in broader terms, I don't think Portis has done enough over the course of his career to keep himself in prime physical condition. The only backs who make it past 30 are the ones who work out like warriors and eat right. E Smith, T Jones, these guys had longevity because of their habits. Portis is headed downhill in a hurry because he's never had the work ethic. If Portis gets you 1100 and 8 TDs, you will have had a losing season, I promise. Because that would mean he's your best option, and it would mean you had to give him 300 carries just to get those 1100 yards. He doesn't have the speed needed to average more than 4 yards per carry anymore.

Re: Portis Out To Prove Redskins Wrong

Re: Portis Out To Prove Redskins Wrong
He looked incredible at times last season, especially in the Houston game. Even in his final game against the Titans, he was running well until the re-injury.
He can definitely still run, but unfortunately for him he can't stay healthy. His body isn't breaking down, it's already broken down.

To prove the Skins wrong, he would need to have a heck of a season. I don't think he has it in him anymore. He's a role player at best now. I would bank on one of our rookies putting up better numbers. |

Domino effect with these guys...one after the other they all say the same thing when they leave for whatever the reason.

Re: Portis Out To Prove Redskins Wrong
Well, not all of them.
Rogers isn't even out the door yet and he's popping off. Not smart. |
