Re: Raiders to waive Deangelo Hall

“This is a blessing,” Hall told NFL.com’s Steve Wyche. “I have learned it’s not all about the money. I’ve learned now it’s more about the team. Ain’t all money good money. I took the bait. I went for the money and I didn’t research the situation. But I don’t think I would trade this for the world. Just to meet (owner) Al Davis, to get to pick his brain, to know the kind of person he is and the impression he had on football is good for me to say that I know him.”

NFL.com Blogs » Blog Archive Hall: Interested teams already calling «

All good things for Hall to say. I guess that last line he said about knowing Al Davis could be taken as a jab if out of context, but I think it is a complement.

Im pretty sure that his agent is not Drew Rosenhaus.

Wouldnt it be nice to have a replacement for Springs, without giving up a draft pick, and by just taking a chance? Dont get whats wrong with that.

Alvin Keels is Hall's agent. Don't know who else he represents

Re: Raiders to waive Deangelo Hall

RAIDERS OFFERED HALL A CHANCE TO STAY
Posted by Mike Florio on November 5, 2008, 10:10 p.m.

A league source tells us that the Oakland Raiders offered to keep cornerback DeAngelo Hall for the rest of the 2008 season.

But to stay Hall would have had to sacrifice the injury guarantee applicable to his $9 million option bonus due in March 2009 and his guaranteed base salary of $7.5 million for 2009.

Hall declined.

Teams have until Thursday to make waiver claims for Hall. The more likely outcome is that Hall won’t be claimed, and that he’ll become an unrestricted free agent.

There is increasing speculation that the Patriots could be interested in adding Hall, under a minimum-salary deal for the balance of the season. The thinking in some circles is that the Pats would rely upon their veteran leadership in the locker room to influence Hall to be something other than a turd.

And if he steps out of line even once, the Pats would undoubtedly cut him loose.

Finally, several readers have asked us to explain the concept of injury and skill guarantees. OK, we’ll do it. (Insert eye roll here.)

An injury guarantee ensures payment in the event a player is (duh) injured. A skill guarantee means that the player gets the money even if, as in Hall’s case, he is cut.

The reality in Hall’s case is that the reports of “guaranteed” money in the amount of $24 million omitted the fact that $16.5 million of it was guaranteed for injury only.

Thats the latest that I've read about. I think the Redskins' might actually be interested because they did try to pursue him in the offseason.

They were interested when Rogers was still a big question mark coming off his injury.

With Moss, ARE, Cooley, and then three pass catchers taken with the first three picks, I would have never envisioned us having this kind of discussion. Damn.

Of course Devin is screwing up though; he's a rookie playing in an offense that is new for everyone. As good as we are now, we need to take a long term approach. It will take years for the entire team to learn this offense, but when it finally does, it will be nasty. The more we can keep guys in (ESPECIALLY guys who are making mistakes) the more dividends it will pay in the long run.

Thomas was very green coming in, so I guess we shouldn't be too surprised with him so far. Regardless it's just frustrating. But I think the reality of it is we can't count on him for much of anything this year. I hope he works his butt off in the offseason to learn and improve.

Re: Raiders to waive Deangelo Hall

Where might DeAngelo Hall end up? (Around the NFL)

Redskins: Shawn Springs has been banged up. The club loved what it had seen from Carlos Rogers -- until Monday, that is. Leigh Torrence has done a nice job as the nickel back and has filled in outside, but he might be better as a No. 4 or 5 corner. Fred Smoot makes plays but doesn't always cover consistently. The Redskins looked at Hall this offseason.

I got to think that the 3 most likely places are us, the Pats, and the Broncos.

Matty, you make a good point but you would have to admit its quite discouraging that other rookie wide receivers (Donnie Avery, DeSean Jackson, Eddie Royal, ...) have gotten off to good starts and our three #2 picks are having a hard time making a minimum contribution.

Yeah, he has personality issues and can cause problems in a locker room.

Dallas will sign him.
