Me and you same boat. My MIL is just annoying but does a lot for my family so I give her the respect she deserves. She came on our beach trip with us this year for a few days of the week we were there, I could tell we both had had enough of each other by third day, which ironically was the day she left. I think MIL get the short end of the stick most times anyways by the time you are done with your wife's drama and your own mom's drama you have little left in the tank to deal with the MIL's drama and if you got daughters you are even further drained.

Re: Wife Question: Dropping Momma' at the Plane
That's really weird. As someone else suggested- is there something else going on in her life right now that would cause an outburst like this? Has something been building up inside her and this was just the straw that broke the camel's back? Seems like a gigantic overreaction.

Re: Wife Question: Dropping Momma' at the Plane
OK, you wanna' know what's weird. She texted me and said, "You better not ignore me. I'm going to keep bugging you until you answer me."
I said, "DON'T BUG ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Where she could hopefully tell I was kind of kidding. So she writes, "Don't get me wrong, I'm not fond of Saturday, but I'm better with it - also in this deal it better be a kickass night full of monkeys, strippers and midgets." That's the exact quote.

Re: Wife Question: Dropping Momma' at the Plane
My guess is she's either knocked up or she was planning to off you and sell your organs on the black market this weekend, but I'm good with relationship advice so I could be wrong.

It better not be male strippers she's asking for.

Re: Wife Question: Dropping Momma' at the Plane
Okay - here's the deal:
1) This is not necessarily about you taking your family to the airport / or other favor 2) This is not necessarily about lost time on the weekend Your wife is not feeling appreciated / Loved / special at the moment. Men and women just don't think the same way, we are wired differently. Your wife (and most women) are not going to give you a direct request - life's tough now, I really need you to make me feel a little special right now. However she wants you, as her other half, to know that and to come to her emotional rescue without having to give you the direct request. She's not looking for a trip or some time on the weekend - she wants you to let her know just how special she is to you. She is looking for your emotional support / time / attention until she feels better about whatever is happening in your lives right now. Make an extra effort to find out why she feels down and don't try to 'Fix It' but try to help her figure it out and be supportive. Let her know you care and are there for her. Best of luck!!!! I'm in my 33rd year of marriage and still get caught in the same scenarios from time to time. Its just part of being a guy ... |

Man, it's amazing how much better I feel now too. I mean I was NOT going to budge. She basically accepted my deal where we both get what we want.
