how far can Beck take us?
Probably at least to the McDonalds drive thru. Anything else is gravy. Expecting any more than a 6-10 season with this squad and him leading is crazy.

And for the record, I don't like kolb at all. I just understand why he is highly more desired than beck, which is what I tried to iterate in the last post. |

Re: How far can Beck take us?
Regarding Kolb...he can't be that good, the eagles traded him for a steal....they have a tendancy to do that with average QB's
I wish we got value like that....pisses me off frankly

Re: How far can Beck take us?
Oh yeah...you guy remember another head coach favorite QB that no one else in the NFL thought could succeed...Danny Wuerfull?
Not saying Beck is that bad...but....arrogance blinds and Skins fans sometimes suffer....I sure wish our coach were more objective and humble.

Re: How far can Beck take us?
I am willing to let Beck have his shot, but come on now guys. The guy has been shuffled around so much in his short NFL career that only the delusional aren't going to be rather skeptical about the guy. If this guy couldn't get the starting job down in Miami, what makes you think he all of a sudden is going to become a stud for us? In fact, when has a drafted QB dud ever turn around his career and become a stud? Remember Gus Frerotte and Patrick Ramsey? The Gator twins that came with the Ole Ball Coach? JC? JC is the only one of the aforementioned guys that has a shot at redemption, but probably won't be a stud. History is not on the side of John Beck, and I would not put any money on him being a stud for us either. He is a backup for the newbie that will be drafted in 2012. And if the Skins were to get a little bold and take two Qbs, he might not be on the team.

I'm like 90% sure your joking cause nobody is that dumb that they can't see that fans being worried about a journeyman 3rd stringer suddenly becoming a starter is a reasonable concern. If your not, I dub thee, sir Brody, the biggest moron on this site.

Re: How far can Beck take us?
skinster: the only moron is someone who passes judgement about someone without proof or evidence. We know nothing about Beck. Yes, he could suck, but he at least deserves a chance to succeed before we claim him a failure. I know your probably really good on your kickball team, and you think you know talent, but hold off on passing judgment until you have some evidence.

Re: How far can Beck take us?
Let's compare Shanahan to Spurrier.
Shanahan: 2 time Super Bowl winner. Spurrier: Thought training camp served no purpose. Shanahan: Can turn no name running backs into all-stars. Spurrier: Had like 2 different pass protections - total. And both sucked. Shanahan: Took a crappy QB in Jake Plummer out of a bad situation in AZ and turned him into a decent game manager. Spurrier: Doomed Patrick Ramsey's career from the start. Now Ramsey is nothing but a journeyman, can't even settle in as a backup. See where I'm going with this?

Re: How far can Beck take us?
Beck, like anyone else, should get a fair and neutral evaluation when he is on the field. There are numerous examples of late blooming QBs who moved around, got cut etc, until they found a situation that fit them.
Rich Gannon, Trent Dilfer, Kurt Warner are the ones that I can think of right off the top of my head (there are many more). I am defining good as - can be a part of a team that wins games....not stats alone. |

I'm not pretending to be a scout, so stop with the kickball references. And since Beck has shown nothing in the NFL, please don't tell me you see the good in him. The only data we have on beck is that he is a journeyman 3rd stringer, which does not inspire confidence in him. It is ignorant to ignore what we know about him, as well as the trends and statistics that go along with the this knowledge. Hopefully he is an outlier, but we can only find that out once he plays. |
