But if they pull some name and logo like the DMV Dumbasses or Washington Whoseewhatsits, then to me they would have been better off just staying tight lipped and announcing it in one big reveal after the Superbowl

So, my question is, at the midpoint of the renaming journey, how does everyone feel that the WFT has done with the media aspect of it?

They are definitely hyping it up, which is why there is no way it stays WFT. Meet the new name, same as the old new name?
I have wanted Redwolves since the first time I heard it floated. Ill be disappointed with anything else. Unless maybe it is something I haven’t heard, but that is apparently not the case.

Re: Come up with a new name for the Redskins

We've seen a bunch of possible names beyond that 8 name list yesterday. The team got like 40,000 submissions? I'll go out on a limb it's going to be one of those for sure lol

As far as the media aspect of it I would have been fine if they just announced it vs all this "journey" stuff. I honestly don't care, just tell us the name and let's get on with it. But I get it, they're engaging the fans and that's something this team hasn't done well with for years.

More like Washington Carjackers. There were over 300 of them inside the District last year. Around 100 this year.

Could you imagine that logo?

What does that even mean. Particularly in combination with the earlier statement that it will be inclusive for Md VA and DC .

Amy name they give will be "authentic" or are they going to name them the DC Cowboys. While hilarious definitely not authentic.

This takes out Redwolves, Redtails, Redhogs, Wolfs, Wolves Please put that shit to bed. Actually I can't wait for the new name just so we don't have to hear of these names ever again.

Yeah I don't see a Redwolf , or Redhogs as being a DC Tradition...

I dont think it puts wolves to bed, and when the stadium breaks out in howls every game the call of the wild is only going to get stronger

Just listen to what Wright said. How does a wolf come into play with anything that has to do w/ the DMV? Nothing.

I haven't actually heard Wright's comment in context, but off the top of my head, the National Zoo seems like it opens the door for any animal to be authentic. In addition, the word authentic doesn't imply or require a specific tie to DC/MD/VA such as the idea of a wolf walking the streets of DC, it could easily mean that the characteristics that they keep flashing on these videos are found both in the Washington team and the Wolves branding. So when they talk about the team values and traits or what the team stands that is where the authentic part comes in. They used terms like nobility, pride, grit, resilience, something deep and meaningful. The wolf as a spirit animal lists most if not all of those characteristics.

Interestingly, I rewatched all three making the brand videos, and the first one ended with them asking kids if it should be an animal and all but 2 raised their hands to say it should.

No one piece in these videos prove it will be Wolves, but so far, watching all 3 I see a very strong marketing method leading to the Wolves.
for like nobility pride, being noble, having pride, caring empathy relentlessness, tradition, strong passion, unified around something deep and meaningful (wolves have
resilince grit tradition nobility should allow that spirit to continue.

Here is the actual context of that quote:
Quote:
"I think the biggest thing they did that was important was that they went with something that they believe was authentic to Cleveland," Wright said. "They have the same mix of reactions from fans that I expect we will have when we roll out our new name, logo, etc. But the way that they did it did have some meaningful tie -- the way we talk about having a meaningful tie to the area and to the history of this team, something that feels something traditional, grit and all that stuff."
He doesn't say authentic to DC, but authentic to the area. He then defines what that means: something that feels traditional, grit and all that stuff (i assume that stuff is referring to things like nobility, resilience and the other words in the video).

Not gonna lie, that looks like a blow to the Wolves. BUT there is also a lot of wiggle room within the answer. All they have to say to be true to his statement is "We feel the spirit of the wolfpack captures the grit and perseverance of this area". We will see, but if the stadium is roaring with howls all season, they may expand on what feeling traditional, and having grit is all about.

Washington Lobbyists

"We feel the spirit of the lobbyist captures the grit and determination of this area."

See? It fits perfectly.
