What? You don't think any loyal fan base would be the same as Packers right now? I know we don't have any long term Skin future HOF'ers on the team now but we all wanted to let Darrell Green play as long as he wanted. Nickel, dime, punt return, didn't matter. An NFL MVP and SB winning QB gets even more loyalty than a CB.

But sure as hell will speed the O up from three years too just one. I mean again if Zorn felt comfortable with the passing than why did he say" where gonna run the ball alot *in meaning 70% of the time*. And its no harm there when you have CP back at his best with the scheme he did similar to Broncos.

It would make sense to know an QB has the most pressure on the team to do something instead of just learning one year under the guy he looks up too( as well as Mcnair).

To be honest would you want to start in an new offense and know if you mist up bad this year could mean alot?. Not to mention more pressure after and having an un-questionable QB drafted to maybe end up taking your spot?.

sorry, smoot, but in one day you've done enough to land on my ignore list... that's really quite a feat. I'd argue your points, but... well, it'd be pointless.

Seriously - I don't mean this to be rude or to be a jerk. But, you've entrenched yourself in an indefensible position, and it's time to let it go.

I understand what you are trying to say ("Favre knows the WCO better than JC, so Favre is a better short term solution"), but the latter simply does not follow the former. Favre does know the general principles of the WCO better than JC, but he doesn't know Zorn's implementation of it, he doesn't know the personnel in DC, and he has a history of being a gunslinger and a non-existent tutor for younger QBs.

Bringing Favre in here simply delays JC by a year, undercuts his believe in management's confidence in him, and puts us back into the 2000-2004 mindset of quick fixes. It's just a flat-out bad idea.

Just watched Fox News w/ Greta...
Packers look stupid. Sure Bret flip flopped, but doesn't look like that's what it's about.

Re: Favre seeks release from Packers (updated)

I honestly don't know what to think about Favre. I was "sure" he was going to stay retired, clearly I was wrong there...I can see it from both perspectives. I can see how the packers moved on, and want / need to start the Rogers era, but I can also understand the need for Favre to play one more year since he did so well last year. My biggest problem is that he teared up and called it a career. I was sad and happy for him at the same time. But he basically promised he was leaving. I am just not sure he should take that back, nor am I sure that the Packers should release him. He really put the packers in a sticky situation.
For as opinionated as I usually am, I just don't know.

Can't blame the Pack for moving on when he retired, but in my opinion you gotta take Favre back. He's honestly gives them the best chance to win the Superbowl. Bring back #04!

Re: Favre seeks release from Packers (updated)

I hate to say it, but if Gibbs were still around, I'd be concern about the Redskins trying to get Favre. In reality though, the team is stable at this point, and it would be extremely stupid for them to get someone like Favre. Honestly, only teams that truly don't have a QB (Vikes, Jets, Atlanta, Minny, Bears, etc.) should be looking at Favre. My gut tells me though that he might end up either in Minny or Chicago. Oh and cheeseheads will riot.

About the Skins picking up Favre, the above post says it all.

Re: Favre seeks release from Packers (updated)

I have never been a big fan of Favre's off-season wishy washiness, but in this case I think the Pack have to man up and either release him or make him the starter. It has really bothered me to hear them make patronizing comments about him retiring for the right reasons, as if their aversion to him coming back is about protecting his legacy. This is and has only been about them not wanting to be in a difficult position. Well too bad. Here you are.

I can see why they think it is in the best interest of the franchise to move forward with Rogers. Favre seems to see that too. That's fine. But then release the guy.

I think what is really at stake here is a fear that, should Rogers bomb and Favre excel this next season, jobs could be lost. Tough beans. Part of being a GM is making these kinds of decisions and dealing with the consequences.

It's not an enviable position to be in but these are the cards that have been dealt, so make a decision and stick with it. The more time goes by with Thompson and company acting like knock-kneed prevaricators, the worse they look.

Re: Favre seeks release from Packers (updated)

My how time clouds memory.

Let's forget Farve and put the magnifying glass on Campbell. It is time for Campbell to put up, get back on the bench or go to another team. He needs sot step up or step out.

Last year, the Redskins should have beat the Packers, but we lost 17-14. Defenses ruled the game.

Re stats, Campbell outplayed Farve.

Washington Comp Att Yds Pct Y/A Sack YdsL TD Int
J. Campbell 21 37 217 56.8 5.9 3 7 1 1
Green Bay Comp Att Yds Pct Y/A Sack YdsL TD Int
B. Favre 19 37 188 51.4 5.1 2 19 0 2

Look at the play by play in the fourth quarter. Both Campbell and Farve were poor, with ZERO points scored by either team and the Redskins losing by three. If you remember the game, it was bad offense and bad play calling in the fourth quarter for the Skins. Take a look if you can stomach the memory.

I'm a season ticket holder for both the Redskins and the University of Hawaii. I saw first hand Brennan win games that UH shouldn't have won. I'm waiting for Campbell to do the same for the Skins. If Campbell just plays an average game, we'll be an average game at best. I want to score more points and win. You guys can kick Brennan all you want, but when he does make it, I presume you will apologize publicly.
