Re: 2010 NFL Free Agency Rumors and Reports (Week 2)
I just read that the Browns will pay him $7M this season!! WTF?? WHY?? Plus the Panthers owe him $12.7M this year. So he's going to make just shy of $20M in 2010 despite being the worst starting QB in the NFL in 2009. Staggering. Just staggering.
What a fail by Cleveland. And an even bigger fail by Carolina for giving him $20M in guaranteed money right after he threw 5 picks in a playoff game. Such a waste of money.

So does Jake Delhomme to Cleveland mean that the Browns won't be trading up to get a QB now in the first round/selecting one in the first at 7?

Jake Delhomme is single handedly killing the NFLPA's argument about not having a large enough piece of the pie.

Well after Charlie Frye, Luke McCown and Brady Quinn they could be looking again. Their luck with QB's is on par with ours. Cleveland may be one of those teams interested in staying out of the top five on draft day.

As bad as the Archuletta and Lloyd contracts were (Lloyd's being an extension), the Delhomme extension has to be one of the worst contracts in the history of the NFL. The signs were there during the 08 regular season that Jake was losing it and then he turned it over 6 times against Arizona. After arguably the worst performance in the history of the NFL playoffs by a QB (5 picks and a lost fumble) Carolina gives Jake a 5 year extension with 20 million guaranteed. So coming off a huge season in 08, Jake continues to turn it over (even though their sorry asses somehow beat us) and ruins their season. Looking at how Carolina finished the season with Matt Moore (I have already forgotten his name....) they were a good team outside of Delhomme. In summary they paid Jake Delhomme over 20 million to ruin their 2009 season. |

Thing is, Cleveland needs so much help in so many places. They have no receivers at all and basically every position on defense is a mess. Their D is so bad, I don't see how they don't take the best defensive player available at #7. Or maybe Dez Bryant.

If I'm the GM of another team, these recent moves are a sure signal that they intend to part ways with Quinn, so why give up picks for a lame duck QB. I think either they bring Brady Quinn back to camp and let him compete for the starting spot --again--or outright release him. |

Cool. I'd like to know. I'm an SEC guy, and I was high on Snead going into the 2009 season.
