What if we lose??

I know we must think positive but right before watching a movie i told my friend today that i would be the happiest person in the world if the skins win sunday. My friend then asked me what if they lose? I said I would be content because i would still consider this a successful season. But as the movie started i was swept with this fear of losing. Could the eagles in their last dying breath take us with them? The devistation I will feel will be unmatched. The last 4 games all to waste. I was thinking about Moss and portis breaking 1500 yards but none of that matters. I want a playoff game. I NEED a playoff game. The last time there was a playoff game I was 11 and to dumb and ignorant to realize that this is football and this is the playoffs. Us fans can't go another year, Oh No we can't go another week without playoffs.

How will you feel if all does not work out and in an instant the season is over? The season will just end. What the hell will i do, all of a sudden there will be no redskins stuff left to talk about . Nothing left to think about!! No football for 9 months NO FOOTBALL FOR 9 months!! The season can be over in an instant. Could we have only 2 more days of redskins 2005 football?? How can it end just like that. Just end. What happens? Will the players talk or will all disapear. Where will they go?

How will you all feel if we somehow don't make it? What if it is because of a ref? Tuck rull? What the hell is the tuck rule? Will the season be so much of a success that you can feel content or will you feel this was the cruelest season in years making us exited for weeks without being able to celebrate because of the ending us skins fans know all to well?

Re: What if we lose??

This, up to this point, has been the best season of Redskin football since i've been a fan. Even beating out 1999. If we lose on Sunday, that will probaboly all be erased. We need to win, and I think we will win. As long as we show up ready to play, we'll be fine. I dont think Gibbs will let this team look ahead in the slightest.

Don't worry BSB, if the redskins lose i will take the blame. Here's to us being a part of the younger generation of redskins fans, the fans that have never experienced the playoffs.

Re: What if we lose??

I think us younger guys are just excited at the possibility that we could be going. All i've ever experianced with this team is heartbreak. I'm sure more of it could be coming, but I'm really optomistic that its not this weekend.

Exactly i don't want to feel that feeling again. The one after we lost to dallas last year in the closing seconds. I want more of the dallas wins this year. I am on a high and i don't want to come down
look at this everyone that has responded to this thread is under 20-not sure about steveo-, all of those old farts went to sleep.

Re: What if we lose??

if the redskins lose, i know it will be because i didn't deck myself out in redskins fan gear from top to bottom. IF the redskins lose while i am wearing all that, i will know it's because i didn't give my all as a fan of the redskins.

Re: What if we lose??

Looks like you won't have to take the blame mooby reid has given up!

http://www.washtimes.com/sports/2005...4629-8244r.htm
Eagles coach Andy Reid apparently doesn't see his team standing in the Redskins' way, saying, "You guys are going to be in the playoffs, fired up and ready to go. You won't have to worry about me."

-Written by some guy named David Elfin hmmmmm i think i heard that guy had a habit of taking things out of context:smashfrea

man looks like they really did quit. They are playing their backups over players like keith adams and dahni jones.

I hope this leads for this 'what if we lose' nonsense to be be just that. Nonsense.

Linebackers McCoy, Roper get chance
By LES BOWEN
bowenl@phillynews.com

YOU HAVE TO look long and hard to find meaning in this final game of the 2005 season for the Eagles.

In fact, you have to look pretty far down the roster, to the Matt McCoys and Dedrick Ropers, the players who have something more than pride to play for Sunday, when the Washington Redskins come to town to officially seal a winless season in the NFC East for the defending NFC champions. The Redskins have won four in a row and can go to the playoffs. The Eagles have lost eight of their last 11 and can only go home for their longest offseason in 7 years.

But amid the rubble, opportunity beckons. Defensive coordinator Jim Johnson said yesterday he plans to use this game to "look at some people, some younger guys maybe more."

In particular, Johnson identified McCoy, the second-round rookie linebacker from San Diego State, and Roper, the former Steelers practice-squad linebacker who has done well on special teams since coming to the Eagles Nov. 9.

McCoy apparently will spell weakside starter Keith Adams, and Roper will get some reps on the strong side, where Dhani Jones is the starter. Both starters have struggled, particularly in pass coverage. The last time the Eagles played the Redskins, a 17-10 loss Nov. 6, tight end Chris Cooley caught seven passes for 85 yards and Washington's running backs added seven more catches for 60 yards.

From a fan's perspective, keeping tabs on McCoy might take priority, since the Birds drafted him 63rd overall last April and he has had a very tough time getting on the field. He has been activated for just three games, playing almost exclusively on special teams. McCoy's last outing, Dec. 18 at St. Louis, he took a bad penalty for a late hit on a punt, and he was back on the inactive list for last week's visit to Arizona.

The Eagles tapped McCoy 15 slots above his more acclaimed San Diego State teammate, Kirk Morrison. Many draft previews noted McCoy as an up-and-coming prospect, leaving college a year early. Oakland drafted Morrison early in the third round, and injury gave him a chance to start; he now leads the Raiders with 110 tackles.

Eagles player personnel vice president Tom Heckert said yesterday that on draft day, the Eagles felt McCoy was quicker and more athletic than Morrison, though they liked both players, and they still feel confident in their choice. The Raiders list Morrison at 6-2, 240. The Eagles list McCoy at 5-11, 230, and he looks a little smaller than that. Heckert said he never expected McCoy to play a lot this season, with Adams and former starter Mark Simoneau available on the weakside.

"It's been frustrating, but it's also been a good learning experience," McCoy said. He said the toughest thing to master has been "the speed of the game, and everybody's a lot smarter, obviously... understanding what you need to do, especially in this defense. It's a tough defense to learn."

Johnson confirmed that McCoy "is still learning the thing... He was behind. It's taken him a little longer."

Johnson said the Eagles drafted McCoy because "he's a tough guy, very good, physical guy, and made a lot of plays. The jury's still out and we'll give him plenty of looks this year and next year."

Johnson said he wants to see physical play from McCoy in run situations.

Roper, who played at Division II Northwood Institute in Michigan, was not drafted because he wasn't well-known, Heckert said. The Eagles liked him in 2004, but he signed with the Steelers, who had him playing outside in their 3-4 scheme, almost exclusively rushing the passer. The Birds signed him off the Steelers' practice squad because they thought he'd be a better fit in a 4-3, playing the strongside, at 6-2, 245.

"They've been giving me kind of a crash course on the defense over the last week-and-a-half," Roper said yesterday. "It feels a little bit like rookie camp, trying to learn a new system, new plays and all the words that go along with it... the game plan's pretty simple, so I should be able to catch on."

Johnson also mentioned increased reps for second-year corner Dexter Wynn, who has played in 21 games, but who seems to have lost ground to former Colts corner Donald Strickland, signed by the Birds in November. Offensive coordinator Brad Childress said wideout Carl Ford, a former Chicago Bear, might be active if Darnerien McCants (shoulder) can't play. McCants was listed as doubtful yesterday.
