No d-lineman
Our picks are finished and we took 2 o-lineman but still no help on the d-line.
Do they think we will be fine with what we have or do they think we can get someone after june 1st??? Maybe even in a trade? |

Kenny Holmes is still available, I believe, and he played for Williams in Tennessee, having his best season there.
I know the Skins had him in for a physical a few weeks ago, and I think they have been biding their time signing him to see what happened in the draft. Unless something bad came up in his physical, I'd expect the Skins to sign Holmes. |

Right on bro - I am suprised/disappointed to see that neither of our 2nd day picks went to get a D-Lineman. Two O-Linemen just doesn't make sense to me....

Everyone says we need dline help becuase our line sucked so much last year. Mabye Williams likes the two pickups and who we still have remaining. Im sure they will look to june 1st cuts if there is anyone available. But I remember eitehr Williams or Gibbs saying that they liked their dline and wouldnt sign anyone unless they are a pass rushing threat. He said that they have a solid dline that would stuff the run and wouldnt change anyone on the line unless they brought a big threat to the passrush game.

D.T. Brendon Kennedy from North Texas was still on the board and I'm very dissapointed we didnt select him or another defensive lineman. He is very short ( 5-9 ) for the NFL, but the guy is a legitamte run stuffer. I hope he goes undrafted and we sign him.
Overall though, I'm pretty suprised we didnt nail a D-Lineman. I really dont think our dline is in that bad of shape. Its obviously gonna be one of our weaker positions, just cause we dont have a sexy name on the dline, we still upgraded so we'll see what happens. |

I think with our coaching htis year we just may end up with some sexy names on teh dline. Mabye Griffin will step it up under Williams with all the other talent around him. Plus, with fan support up, and a 92000 person stadium, we're going to be helping our d out a lot at home games now. Gardner wasnt a big name when we got him and ended up being. We'll see how it plays out.

They're picking Hogs. Molinaro and Wilson sound like Jon Jansen types, big and blue collar, mean streaks, not missing games because of injury, etc. It's hard because a lot of these moves may not make perfect sense to us, but I think Gibbs and those guys know what they're doing. If they had a defensive lineman graded higher than Molinaro and Wilson, they probably would have taken him.

Any chance that since we have such a weak D line, that the skins may play a 3-4?

i doubt it. since the Williams defense is supposed to be built for speed, and our 2 middle linebackers (Barrow and Mitchell) arent exactly speedy, and Clifton Smith and Antonio Pierce arent ready in my mind, i think we will stick to the 4-3, with maybe a few 3-4 packages, but mostly 4-3

I think they're looking to develope the next Joe Jacoby. Blue-collar, late rounds, etc. Remember, they've got one of the great o-line developers in Bugel, so the potential to find a diamond in the rough is pretty good there.
But I do think they'll add to the d-line with vets, undrafted rookies, and cap cuts. But they clearly think they can generate pressure on the QB with their LBs and blitz schemes. And adding Barrow, and Taylor, which lets them committ more men in the box, should help. Coach Williams, you've got your work cut out for you!

The 5th and 6th round are not where you find an immediate threat to start and perform better than the players we currently have on the D-line. They'll probably pick up a couple undrafted D-linemen, and see what happens there....plus there are the post June 1st cuts....
I am confident that Joe Gibbs, Gregg Williams, and Joe Bugel know what they're doing. |

I think that we already upgraded our D line plenty. You have to realize that Noble will be back year after next at the latest which solidifies DT for us. With Noble and Griffin we have our starters. I think Wynn and Daniels are defiitly solid enough at end. We're not going to get a huge push from our line alone, but from what I've seen that's not the type of scheme Williams uses anyways. Williams depends on his linebackers and DB's more than anything else.
You're going to see an aggressive blitzing defense (thank god, we should have tried last year) and with that you'll see much more turnovers. It's also going to make our line look a lot better than it may be. With Marcus Washington and LaVar coming from opposite ends and Sean Taylor/Smoot on the occassional corner/safety blitz you're going to see what I feel is a top 5 defense. The same defense we have now under Edwards would have been a 20th or higher ranked defense. The man running it means much more than the men in it, as far as I'm concerned. You don't get into the NFL without having an abundance of talent! |

Man our O-line is young.
Perhaps we can make a move on an unsigned free agent D-lineman or two. |

This kid look interesting as an undrafted free agent. He's DE, though too light for full time play. Had 20.5 sacks and 40 tackles for loss in his last 24 games.
