Weather in Seattle Saturday? Take a Wild Guess!

http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/local/...l_Weather.html

"SEATTLE -- After 22 consecutive days of measurable rain, Seattle is closing in on a record so dismal, even forecasters in this city famous for its gray skies are complaining - albeit politely.

With more wet weather predicted over the next several days, Seattle may soon break a record set in 1953, when there 33 consecutive days of measurable precipitation - the most since the local National Weather Service branch started tracking rainfall in 1931.

...Though Seattle is famous for its rain, it gets far less in an average year than many places. The city's mean annual rainfall from 1970 to 2000 was 37.07 inches, compared to 49.71 inches for New York City."

Just to add to your post, Seattle doesn't have hard rain like most places, it's light drizzle with spots of hard rain here and there. It has been nasty the whole week and it's not looking good for Saturday though. It rained the whole day to day...when I woke up it was raining, when I drove to work it was raining, when I went out for lunch it was raining, it was raining when I drove back home, and you guest it, it is raining right now.

I had heard the whole "it rains a lot" in Seattle deal was a ploy by those in Seattle who didn't want a lot of tourism and growth. They hit hard on the fact that it rains and made the city known for it. Isn't the average rain fall not that much more than a bunch of other places in the country?

It is a ploy to keep the Californians down there with Arnold.

The average is less than most (if not all east coast cities). We get most of it between November-February. This past summer it didn't rain for almost 2 months.

Skins had a pretty good offensive outing with the Dismal weather in Denver earlier this year, hopefully they can duplicate without as many turnovers. If I remember right Brunell passed well in that game.

It'll slow down Alexander's cuts who is a WAY softer runner up the middle than Portis.

Re: Weather in Seattle Saturday? Take a Wild Guess!

all that rain means is Portis and Betts run circles around the Seattle defense, and our defense eats Shaun Alexander whole.

It will be a sunny day there after the Skins take care of the Hawks.

I thought the Seahawks had one of those roofs that opens and closes. Or is that just the baseball stadium that does that?

Re: Weather in Seattle Saturday? Take a Wild Guess!

we played well very in the rain in denver, so if brunell is healthy he can make do...
Hawaii gets even more rain than seattle (200+days a year), but only 30inches a year (though some spots do get 90+ inches). Hawaii is a bit different though, because if a tropical depression forms (which can turn into hurricanes or can be left after hurricanes dissipate) then you can get some serious storms that dump a foot of rain in a day or two.

The Mariners have that type of roof, but not the Seahawks. The roof in Qwest field keep most fans dry in the upper levels.

Believe me, we Californians would rather be in ...California. It's 8:50am, sunny and 65 degrees right now...in JANUARY. I'll take that over the rain any day. Plus, our women ....well, no contest.
