What's the Price Tag on Brandon Lloyd

I think he could be a fairly cheap receiving option. He can go up and get it and in my opinion may be the best FA value coming out. The biggest downside I've heard is a few dropped balls, but I'd love to see him in a skins uniform.

What are your thoughts?

Honestly, I dont expect him to be that cheap. I really dont know if he would even be cheaper than Reggie Wayne. His numbers dont jump off the page at you, but anyone who has watched this guy knows what he brings to the table, which is a hellava lot.

I doubt he'll hit free agency. The 49ers are going to try to surround Alex Smith with enough talent to survive. Given their current roster, it's amazing that Smith isn't in a wheelchair right now. I would be highly perplexed if San Francisco decided to let Lloyd walk without having made him a decent offer (which we'll have to outbid).

Fortunately, IF he hits free agency and IF we decide to outbid other suitors, we likely will not have to break the bank. Last offseason, Plaxico Burress got a 6-year $25 million deal from the Giants with $8 million guaranteed money. Lloyd isn't considered nearly as talented as Burress, so I seriously doubt he is looking at anything more than a deal that averages $3.5 million per year with more than a $6 million in signing bonus.

But, the market often dictates salaries. So, my guess could be way off if lots of teams decide they need help at wideout. But, right now, I think my guess is close. A 5-year $17 million deal with $6 million in bonuses sounds right to me.

Lloyd is a RFA... 49ers are going to keep him.

Battle is a RFA as well but I doubt the Niners are going to keep him. A lot of people seem to think he's a total diamond in the rough, that he's better than Lloyd but just needs the right coaching to bring it out.

He's also fast and a good return man. And he's cheap... he only made 380k this year.

From what I've read, this guy is a gangster and a locker room menace. Otherwise, I'd cut my pinky off to have him. He is a phenominal receiver. Although maybe him and Chris Samuels could cut a rap album together. . .

And maybe him and my boy Taylor can go to gun shows together.

Re: What's the Price Tag on Brandon Lloyd

niners will match pretty much any reasonable offer id imagine, unless someone breaks the bank for him, which i do not think we should do. he makes great catches, but hasnt had big numbers. granted, he hasnt had the best qbs, but he still has to show me someting before i think he is worth a fat contract

he'd just be the next 50/50, though he does have more natural talent. I think there are better (and cheaper) options that we'd more likely pursue...
