New planet discovered in Milky Way

Scientists have discovered a planet more like Earth than any other found before, they said on Wednesday. It's 20,000 light-years away, just shy of the center of the Milky Way.

I wonder what role Gregg Williams played in this?

None, I'm sure. Williams is a Snickers man.

its -220 degree celcius, so life might not be so plentiful... more like a big pluto.

maybe its warmer closer to the planets core. When they say its earth-like, "they" (astronomers) mean that its small and cold (mosts planets they find are either very large, very hot, or both).

Re: attention fellow space geeks!

yeah i read this in another article but i can't find it. What i got from that is that it is special because it is small and cold. I don't doubt that there are smaller planets out there in other solar systems but the thing is witht the way we look for planets it is really hard to find anything with a small mass. WHat we do is we look for a planets pull on its star. Earth has a pull on the sun but it is minimal to the pull the sun has on us. There is a small bit of movement when the planet orbits the star and we detect that small bit of movement and recognize that there must be a planet doing that. We just aren't technologically advanced enough to find small planets like our own.
i think.
