Question Redskins first pick in the draft?

Derek Hagan

Wide Receiver | Senior | Arizona St.
Height: 6-2 | Weight: 202 | 40-Time: 4.54

Strengths:
Has solid size...Is a smart and cagey receiver who just knows how to get open...Runs good routes...Is more quick than fast...Tough and will lay his body on the line...Does a solid job of running after the catch...Never gives up on a play...Adjusts well to bad throws...Overachiever who gets the most out of his ability...Very productive...The type who does everything well but nothing great.

Weaknesses:
Does not have great pure speed...Is not a deep threat...Will still drop some catchable passes and hands are somewhat questionable...May have trouble separating from pro defensive backs...Is not a great blocker...Does not work the middle of the field much...May not have a lot of upside at the next level.

Notes:
An excellent college receiver who you have to temper your excitement about as a prospect due to his lack of ideal physical tools...Can be a great #2 receiver in the pros but to expect much more from him is probably being a little too optimistic.

He had a great college career, but dropped almost every pass thrown to him in the senior bowl. Not that great at getting open against good competition, i have to believe there will be better prospects around when we pick it doesn't have to be a reciever with the first pick.

Gee, that description is so intriguing . . . "slow receiver with below average hands." Is he your cousin or something?

Re: Redskins first pick in the draft?

rookie WR's are very risky. we dont have time to groom anyone either, its best to get the best player with a chance of playing rather than a prospect. or get a prospect in the late rounds. we need an established player at #2 wr...

Re: Redskins first pick in the draft?

D quillen is 6'6" and just as fast and he'll be undrafted.

the FA market for #2s is good, get one there (r-el is the only one that's going to make great money).

I seriously think all the WRs after #2 or 3 are a complete stretch and the only reason they're ranked so high is due to a complete bust of WR talent this year. Hagans looked like a 4th rounder every time i saw him, but he may go in the 2nd. There's much better talent value out there than these guys.

I think orr or hass will go later and could become much better pros.

Yep, totally agree. We don't have 3 years to develop a No. 2, use that 2nd round pick on another position.

Not that I like Hagans at all, but anyone think he'd be worth the 3rd or 4th we would possibly get from Ramsey?

Re: Redskins first pick in the draft?

Sounds like Taylor Jacobs. Good college receiver, difficulty getting separation from pro defensive backs and drops too many passes.....Yeah, thats Jacobs.

Except Jacobs has girl parts where his balls should be.

I'm still pissed about the whole, "Coach, I think I have a concussion."

Re: Redskins first pick in the draft?

I like the Rod Gardner thing, that was funny!! What we need is a DE that is in balanced. Can play either run or rush the passer. Our front has to be able to play the run to allow the LBs more freedom. I think thats why our front is good with some no names, that play well against the run. Daniels plays his ass, too bad he's getting old. He really played awesome the last 5 or 6 games. I think the kid from NC state will be pretty good(forgot his name) Taft is too small for DE in the NFL. We have this discussion way too ofter, its just listed differently. I think its pretty apparent we all agree on DE and WR as the two areas most obviously needed upgraded. However, no one seems to bring safety in the mix. Clark in good against the run, but gets beat alot on pass coverage. We need a safety that is not going to get beat because of Taylor being able to rush the passer and come up against the run. I think we need an upgrade there as well.
