Redskins: New Contract breakdowns/cap info

Redskins | Contract breakdown: C. Fauria
Wed, 15 Mar 2006 23:05:36 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Christian Fauria signed a two-year contract with base salaries of $810,000 (2006) and $1 million (2007).

Redskins | Contract breakdown: Randle El
Wed, 15 Mar 2006 23:04:58 -0800

Washington Redskins WR Antwaan Randle El signed a seven-year contract with base salaries of $585,000 (2006), $595,000 (2007), $820,000 (2008), $4 million (2009), $4.25 million (2010), $4.5 million (2011) and $5.0 million (2012).

Redskins | Contract breakdown: R. Cartwright
Wed, 15 Mar 2006 23:03:55 -0800

Washington Redskins RB Rock Cartwright signed a four-year contract with base salaries of $585,000 (2006), $600,000 (2007), $750,000 (2008) and $800,000 (2009).

unfortunately KFFL doesn't include bonus money in breakdowns. El has an 11mill bonus (might be 11.5?) and arch has a 5mill bonus with 5 yearly 1mill roster bonuses starting next year. Carter has $10mill SB, and lloyd will probably have a 10$mill bonus, but i haven't seen details on his contract yet (since its not done).

Killings, and the bonus money for both Fauria and Cartwright are unknown. I'd assume Fauria is getting around 1.5$mill in SB, but that's just a guess.

Re: Redskins: New Contract breakdowns/cap info

Its interesting to look at how players contracts are structured when when they're expected to play them out as opposed to when there's a chance of them being dumped.

cartwright and fauria (And presumably killings, who probably did a 2-4 year deal near min) will stick around till their contracts expire. Randle is gauranteed 3 years here at around 3mill/year in cap charge, and probably another year at 4mill. the 5th, 6th and 7th years are completely optional for the team.

that means he's really only a 3mill a year WR, which is much more in line with his skills than his 5mill/year contract originally indicated, and actually isn't that bad a deal as i thought for a pro bowl quality returner and #3 slot WR).

he may never see the last 14$mill of his deal.

Guy, I'm interested in knowing where the Redskins rank in terms of payroll. Not really cap numbers, per se.

With all the talk of us over-spending, I wonder who actually has the highest payroll in the NFL. I'm tired of these arm-chair cap analysts on TV who critisize us year in and year out.

Yeah it will depend on how he does in the first 3 years of the contract. If he's good, the Skins will restructure the contract and prorate that big base salary in the 4th year over the remaining life of the contract.

I think he'll be good.

The Redskins have the highest payroll every year. Well, maybe not every year but pretty damn close. We may have $100mil in salary cap numbers, but we are well over that in terms of actual figures. probably in the 120's or higher with bonuses and coaches salaries.

I would still like to see the actual numbers if someone could put that together.
And aren't salary cap numbers and actual year-to-year payroll numbers different.

we alway lead in actual payroll. the brown may be close this year (they've also spent a lot in bonuses)... our actual payroll this year is probably close to 120mill this year.

(about 50mill base + new cba vet min raises (4mill?) + ~40mill in new SB bonuses, +10mill in other bonuses, +owed bonus due to lavar (1.5mill?) on release), thats 106mill there...

we still have guys to resign and draft picks and posibly a few more FAs to add, so i'm sure we'll be really close to 120mill after FA and the draft are done.

coaching staff is 5mill (JG) + 2.7(GW) + 2 (AS) + staff (4mill? how much of the scouting dept/trainers etc do you want to count?) so almost 14mill in coaches.

It realy looks like our deal with players while they sound high in total numbers really are not reality and will run much less or spread out longer. We know that a player like El if he performs on the field we will restructure in the latter years and bring those cap numbers down . Am I right in my assessment of how we are working the contracts?

we wouldn't even need to restructure. he'd go from 3/year (first three years) to 4.5mill a year over the last four... either he merits that paycheck or he doesn't. after the 4th year he can be cut for instant cap savings at any time.

So does this mean that we get more "cap friendly" over the next three years?

only if we don't continue adding more players with big bonuses and more massive restructuring efforts.

but we probably will we lead the league in deadcap every year i believe (which is cap charges for players no longer on your roster).
