With the #1 Overall Pick, The Redskins Select...
Firstdown brought it up in another thread. But let's just suppose for a minute the Washington Redskins had the top pick in this year's draft. Putting aside any salary issues and considering the current make-up of our team who would you select as #1 overall?

AJ Hawk. I know it probably sends the wrong message to the homegrown players for the Skins, but he looks like one of those "can't miss" linebackers.
Vernon Davis would be a very close second.

passing up on reggie bush would be like passing up on michael jordan... even if we have a pro bowl runningback and good returners

Mario Williams. Williams on one side and Carter on the other? Vicious. Vernon Davis also a very close second for me.

mario williams, he'll have a bigger impact than AJ or vernon davis would. (I mean what davis would provide above and beyondd what cooley can do... we're not handing out 107$mill to WRs to go 2 and 3 TEs every down).
Hawk is good, but LBs are like RBs in that 2nd rounder are still more than good enough (ie marcus washington at pick #59). |

Re: With the #1 Overall Pick, The Redskins Select...
Well first off you realy cannot put aside the salary issue because that is a major factor when there is no immediate need. I'd say pass on Reggie for three reasons. 1 We have Portis who is agreat RB and a hugh salary. 2 We have EL who is a proven returner and several other things. 3 He would demand a large amount of money which we do not have for a player which is a luxury and not a need. Yes he is a great talent and will probably be a top player in the NFL but that is probably and there is no guarantee. So why not pick a great player of need when you have the chance to do so. If we were in this position that would mean we sucked and alot of other factors would be different.

If Bush put up those type of numbers on a less-talented team, I'd be sharing the same man-crush as the rest of us. That team just has a NUMBER of first rounders going in this year's draft.

I'd love to see some footage of Mario Williams. Everyone is talking about him as "can't miss" also. Just haven't seen anything about him, only heard how great he is.

NICE!
I never thought about that but Goomba?! 1. Goomba 57 up, 18 down An Italian American, and only an Italian America, who has ties with the mafia or any goodfellas. He is in no way a gangster or a mobster himself. He sits down eating only pasta wearing vinyl suits and massive jewelry
