Position switch

Many believe we will make an attempt in the draft to move up and get a quality corner. Possibly with our trade buddies Denver who just aquired the 49ers second round or maybe someone else. So I was thinking if we had to draft a linebacker in later rounds how can we find someone of quality... my solution drafting a guy playing another position in later rounds to see if he can learnt to play wlb. A player that comes to mind to me is Elvis Dumervil of Louisville he remindes me of Dexter Coakley for some reason and I wanted to get the warpath's opinion of who are potential fits at wlb?

Another few guys are Darryl Tapp, DQwell Jackson or Omar Gaither Tennessee (SLB) discuss your player you would put there

Re: Position switch

D'Qwell could work.

Tapp probably couldn't. he's slow for a DE, much less a LB. Carter is faster and he still wasn't nearly fast enough to be effective, even in a 3-4. Dumervil might work in a 3-4, not sure about a 4-3 though.

I'm not sure what we will do but if I was the gm it would be like this:
If we didn't trade up I would take:

2: Thomas Howard OLB UTEP
5:Gerrick McPhearson CB Maryland
6: Garrett Mills TE Tulsa
6:Michael Toudouze OT Texas Christian
7. Darrell Hunter CB Miami (OH)
7: Danny Baugher P Arizona

I like how you're thinking. Not that Frost was great last year but how about a kicker instead?

howard has about 50/50 chance of being there, but mcpherson is a 3rd round pick, so getting him late 5 round won't be possible. darrell hunter will be gone by the end of the 5th round. Toudouze would also have to fall a full round, but that late in, it might be possible.

I think better Punters (torp/plack/koch) are out there, and if we're going to use a pick on one, we might as well get this years best instead of someone who'd struggle to compete with the likes of derrick frost :/

we also have 3 6th round picks (4, 20, 27 - 173, 189, 196).

I read the title of this thread and thought it was something pornographic.

Did you just copy and paste a whole thread here? You probably could have saved time by just pasting the URL

I am against trading next years 1st round pick just to move up in the very late 1st round or in the top of the 2nd round. There is value where we are in that 2nd round. I would even maybe trade down to Houston for thier two 3rd round picks if there was some players on my board that could fall to me. We are going to need next years pick to fill spots that are getting old and free agency will not always fill our need! We don't need to trade up to get a LB because I feel the Redskins think the ones they have will fill the need. Thats my guess. But Danny has pulled off some bid deals in the past so anything can happen. If they do it's to get a player they think will be drop dead great!

houston's picks are too high. we could trade for a 3rd an 4th from them, or for both of new england's 3rds though.

I like the idea of trading back, in order to pick up more choices. It depends on what players fall to that 53rd position, and which NFL Team calls interested in trading up!
