Parcells Could Be Victim of First-Year Success in Dallas

"Every NFL team Bill Parcells has coached has improved by at least three victories in his second season with the club. Every NFL team Parcells has coached has reached the playoffs in his second season with the club.

That means that the Dallas Cowboys will go 13-3 or better this fall and reach the playoffs. That also means that Parcells has raised the bar of expectations very high indeed."

With everything that happened this off season in the NFC East, What are your thoughts of the Cowgirls going 13-3? Was last year a fluke or is Parcells that good of a coach? It is hard to believe that he will not go 13-3, but at the sametime it is hard believe that they could.

before last year, i don't remember parcells ever going to a team that had a defense as good as dallas' in place when he arrived. his offense wasn't anything spectacular and they didn't improve it when they had the chance, but their defense will be about the same strength if not a little stronger. they won't catch the same breaks they did last year, ie the kickoff out of bounds vs the giants. they could have easily had a similar record to ours last year and it wouldn't too far of a stretch for that to actually happen this year. i say they finish 7-9 or 8-8.

dont get me wrong parcells is an excellent coach as much as im afraid to admit that, but the cowboys offense i believe will really struggle this season. The addition of Keyshawn Johnson might not help because they dont have a decent QB to throw him the football. Which could turn into Keyshawn complaining all season. Quincey Carter just isnt going to cut it, and Drew Henson is not ready to step into a starting role. They also have no running game so the cowboys have alot of problems and i agree with that last post they will proably finish 8-8 or 9-7.

Parcels is a good coach but I think hes already maximized the talent he has. Mabye if their running game turns around, and they pick up a vet QB then they will have the talent to make another playoff run. Even Without Galloway or K.J. still have a great receiving core. Galloway was kinda their third receiver last year anyways. Their defense improved with the new dtackle. And if they keep Larry Moore they are still going to have a great oline.

It boils down to the fact our division is returning to teh glory days. Dont be surprised if our division looks like a talented version of the NFC North where everyone has a chance to win the division with two games left. The only difference is that we will all be skilled teams, and not a bunch of shitty teams.

You definitely mean Larry Allen.

I think the success of teams in the NFC East will be very similar to what it was in the heyday of the division. The top team may go 11-5, but they will come out of the regular season battle forged and rule in the playoffs.

I personally feel that Dallas has a fairly weak team. I think Quincy Carter will be much improved this year, and their WRs are yet again awesome. However I think their defense got too much credit last year. Their opponents combined win %age was somewhere around .45 I believe. They obviously didn't play the best of teams.

Their D won't even be ranked #1 in the NFC East this year.

The Cowboys end the season by playing the Eagles, Skins and Giants. Their defense will still be good next year, they have a great secondary, and its not like they are giong to have a harder schedule. They have the easiest schedule of any team in the NFL next year. That doesnt mean much but that fact that our division is going to be stacked, and that we all have easy schedules should push our division into the super bowl.

I hope its us...

They are going to have a little trouble at CB, but they've still got some very good LBs and Safeties. They need a little help on the d-line, but Parcells made up for that by blitzing linebackers effectively (See, Ramsey grimacing on the sidelines after getting wailed on last year against Dallas).

If he could do what he did with Quincy Carter and Troy Hambrick, I fear him. Julius Jones is supposedly getting very good reviews out of the mini-camps and some predict that he will emerge as the sleeper pick of the draft.

Anyways, don't buy it; Parcells and the Boys are going to be good.

The Cowboys were 10-6 in a very weak NFC East last year. I don't see them matching those 10 wins again this year, simply because the talent of the NFC East has improved and most important of all the coaching has really improved.

I see an 8-8 or 9-7 type season, they're not going to sneak up on anyone this year. I'm not doubting Parcells in any way, but it would be an incredible job if he can milk another 10 win season out of the talent he has in this division.

I was thinking about this last night, just look at what a difference Parcells made last year, he turned a 5-11 team into a playoff team overnight, and it was basically the same team talent-wise. Now imagine what he would have done with a proven veteran QB like Brunell, a big-time RB like Portis, and some WR's like Coles and Gardner.

Now imagine what a difference Gibbs could make with the 'Skins!

The best thing about Gibbs is his ability to adjust. Whether its becasue hes down at halftime, or because he started out 0-5. Thats what will make the difference this yera. Everyone learned Spurriers system by week 3, and it was all down hill from there.

I dont think we should be worry about how good or bad the cowgirls are going to be. Regardless of how bad they are they seem to beat us. Granted I hope they lose every game. We just need to find a way to defeat those $@#$@. Can't wait untill Sept 27 to find out.

I just don't see the Cowboys even duplictaing last season. That offense is TERRIBLE. And it's tough to repeat a great defense. I see a small fall in their defense, especially since both the Eagles and SKins have much better offenses. Their offense still blows. Carter sucks, if they got a Warner, or Collins, then I'd be more inclined to say they could duplicate last season, but I just don't see it in a division that is more than likely the toughest in the NFL.

Well who would of thought that they would make the playoff last year? Not me, but I lost that bet-who would make the playoffs next cowgirls or Redskins. You just never know what star will bloom next. On paper they werent good last year either.

I never thought the Cowboys would make it last year but they did they had some lucky breaks but both ourselves and the Giants return games were gimmies . Spurrier had no answear to 7,8 and even 9 man blitzes from one week to the next but one thing I rember about Gibbs he was the king of the half time adjusments.

No one team can be written off in May but I cannot see how the boys got better where as the Eages did we did and to an extenct even the Giants did .
