American Idol Final 2
I've kinda been sucked into the show this season. Usually I watch the pathetic singers in the beginning and then can it but not this year. Elliot just got the boot and the finals are Taylor Hicks and Catherine McPhee. Who's taking home the prize?? My bet is on Taylor. The man's got soul.

Re: American Idol Final 2
all i know is i'll never listen to or buy an album from either of them. taylor will sell more records though. the chick thinks she's better than she actually is and ends up singing song that make her look bad. at least the guy has a gimmick.

Re: American Idol Final 2
I think neither Katharine nor Taylor will reach the level of success of previous idol winners like Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood. That Guy said it, Katharine is just too plain, nothing really special there. I think Taylor can have mild success, since he does have a hook and can sing some soulful songs really well. I think Chris Daughtry will be the most successful of the bunch this year, and he only got 4th place.
I want to see Taylor win it, and it's a really close race right now. Katharine's looks definitely don't hurt her chances though. Who knows, it's too close to call.

All three are very similar in talent level, in my estimation. I can easily see why they ended up in a close vote. Can you honestly say that one is head and shoulders better than the other two?? If so, why?

Re: American Idol Final 2
Taylor has no talent? Did you even watch on Tuesday night when he sang You Are So Beautiful? He feels the emotions in a song better than anyone in the competition, and it comes across on stage. Not to mention I've never heard the guy sing off pitch, he's right on every time. Everyone else in the competition hits a bad note once in a while, but Taylor doesn't.
I can see how some people get turned off by his dancing gyrations, it is a bit goofy. But are Katharine or Elliott any better in that department?? They pretty much just stand on stage and sing. No dancing, no moving, no nothing. Just straight singing (which sounds good of course) but no stage presence. Taylor may look goofy, but at least he commands your attention.

Re: American Idol Final 2
All I know about idol being setup, is Bo Bice should not have lost last year. By far the best singer, I mean damn he sung acapella....The man was so much better than Carrie Under-my-wood, but Simon loved her bc he had the hots for her. I still am beyond shocked from that last year, and I refuse to watch.

Re: American Idol Final 2
the rock guy was the only one worth bothering with. his version of renegade was MUCH better than the original (styx 1982)... no one else has stood up to the originals cause none of them can sing like whitney or whatnot, and the chick's problem is that she's not comfortable trying to do her own thing and tries to hard to be some kind of elite power singer, which she clearly will never be.
mr goofy has been playing with an actual band for years and had a bit of a built in crowd before the show started, and all the old people like him since he's usually singing stuff from the 60s or even earlier... Its all a bit of a joke though. the label signing all these people makes a boatload off all the hype and free advertising, and then just flushes them afterwards. The contracts these people have to sign is TERRIBLE compared to average record deals. the problem with the show is that the average age of the viewer is higher than the average age of the group the label is marketing and trying to sell CDs to... which leads to the disconnect you something see in interest and voting trends. and i hated the you are so beautiful, its just an extremely boring song, even when it's chopped down to 90 seconds. |

Re: American Idol Final 2
i am not a rocker but chris was the best actual artist they had.while i agree all 3 left are close in talent,by making the vote seem that close, just adds to the suspense of the show.and for taylor not singing a bad note,he has absolutely no range in his voice,so if youre monotone in your delivery, its almost impossible to sing off key.karayoke(sp) at its finest

Chris already had success. Fuel asked him to be their front man.

Yeah dmek, I'm sure the producers doctored the vote, it just couldn't be possible that the contestants really were that close in talent. Talk about jumping to conclusions, dude you have NO basis whatsoever. As for Taylor's range, you obviously didn't hear his falsetto on Tuesday night. That was pretty high.

Re: American Idol Final 2
I disagree that Katherine would sell less records. Granted, she's obviously the least talent of the final four that were there, but she's cookie cutter pop and we all know that's what sells records. People like Clay Aiken have cult followings (however homosexual they might be) but they don't sell a huge amount of records. The pop princesses, Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood are the ones who are blowing up.
