Re: Pastabelly thinks Patten will get axe
He makes a good point, but I sure hope he doesn't get cut.

Re: Pastabelly thinks Patten will get axe
Interesting take. I don't think a whole lot of thought or analysis went into that statement by Pastabelly, as usual. He pretty much just said that he thinks Patten is too pricey to be a 4th or 5th WR.
Price isn't an issue with the Skins for this coming season. They have the cap room needed to sign rookies and still have an injured reserve fund. It's not like cutting Patten will create cap room that is sorely needed. Miraculously (ahem, sarcasm), the team is fine on cap space. So I think Patten goes to camp with the rest of the team and fights it out for a spot then. It will come down to Patten, Jacobs, Thrash and a bunch of newbies fighting it out for the #4 and #5 spots. My guess is Thrash stays on for special teams prowess, and Patten hangs on for one more year, providing the depth we need if we're going to be serious about spreading the field. Someone will have to step in if Moss, Lloyd, or Randle-El get hurt. TJ's a goner, but Patten will stay.

Re: Pastabelly thinks Patten will get axe
if patten or wynn were getting cut, I figure it would have already happened by now.
both are quality depth, if a bit overpaid. Gibbs likes good veteran presence though and seems to like having both of them around. cutting either loses team talent for no benefit; we're already under cap. |

Re: Pastabelly thinks Patten will get axe
I said it last week that I thought Patten could be a June 1 cut.
I don't think it's too crazy of an idea, we're pretty stocked at WR now and we could use his $$ elsewhere. |

If we can cut him and pick up an offensive lineman who would provide rock solid depth and versatility, then I'd be all for the move. But Pasta's article tells us everything we need to know, there won't be too many quality players available after June 1. If we can find one, great. But I'm assuming it will be difficult, in which case we're better off just letting Patten come to camp. Anything is possible. I guess we'll find out this week.

We also have to remember how valuable depth is considering our WR troubles last year.

I don't trust what pastabelly says anymore. He thinks Patten will get cut, but he also thinks that chocolate syrup makes a good marinade for steak.

And Crisco is a good dipping sauce to dip the steak in.

A few years ago it always seemed like he was at Redskins park, so I think I just assumed he had some clue.

Re: Pastabelly thinks Patten will get axe
it would be dumb to cut patten, especially since we don't need the money
if moss gets hurt, were definitely gonna need him...or if any of the receivers get hurt... |

Re: Pastabelly thinks Patten will get axe
Don't cut Patten, but maybe ESPN should cut Pastabelly. I think he is over paid and maybe ESPN could pick up a new journalist with the freed up cap space they will save. Just a thought.
