NFL.com's top 50 players in the game
http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/story/9469847
He has Portis at #18 and Sean Taylor at #26. I thought Santana Moss might be up there, but seeing as how he's had 1 breakout season, i can see why he didn't put him up there just yet. Maybe a couple more years like last year and I can see him in there. I thought it was a pretty good list, with only a couple questionable calls, like Steven Jackson. Jackson is a good running back, but he hasn't broken out or shown much of anything yet. He might explode this season, but i wouldn't put him in the top 50 for his performance last year. |

Re: NFL.com's top 50 players in the game
10. Ray Lewis, LB, Ravens: Has he slipped some? Maybe a little, but he's still among the best middle linebackers in the game. He only played six games last season. Watch how well he plays now that the Ravens are back playing the 4-3.
i was kinda thinking 10 was a little to high for lewis. there are a lot of guys below him i would like to have over him. |

Re: NFL.com's top 50 players in the game
I feel like Ray Lewis is a bit too high at 10. A few years ago he was one of the top 10 players in the league overall, but now he's probably not even in the top 20 on defense alone. He is still obviously very good, he knows the game and he seems to motivate his teammates, but I think you have to take into account the fact that he has become an injury risk.

Marcus should be there and so should randy but I guess they didn't have any O-linemen

Re: NFL.com's top 50 players in the game
vick at 35? HA. No Porter?? I hate the mofo but he is good and second best on a super bowl defense. Ed reed is not the best safety no more. Its troy, sean, then maybe Reed. WTF was I talking about? There are 3 Tackles up there. No way randy shouldn't be there if they are going O-linemen. He is the best guard in the game. Underrated like no other. Thomas is the best overall player on this team. They even got drunk driver pace on the list and fat ass ogden.
TO, "Where you at"? Randy Moss top 10? Last year I would say he was by far the best WR but Chad Johnson is the games best wide reciever and finally got his due just last year. OSI and Strahan are low on the list 48 and 50. |

I'm sure some of it comes from biasness and the fact that I watch him week in and week out (when lets face it, alot of these guys only have time to watch highlights of most games)....but I really think Marcus Washington is the most under-rated player in all of football. If you watch him on the field, he is absolutley incredible. The way he reads, the way he plays is just astounding. But under the "just missed', Andre Johnson is quite the headscratcher for me. I've drafted that guy for my fantasy team every year and he hasent done crap. Again, I dont really watch the Texans, so maybe he takes away defenders or somthing, but I'm suprised to see him there.

Re: NFL.com's top 50 players in the game
very surprised to see champ at #4!! I know the guy has mad skills but I can't see him valued as much as a good quarterback or a solid running back. I believe that a guy like L.T. or larry johnson carry's more of a load and that usually shows up in rankings like that. But a CB as the 4th best players in the entire league seems wrong.

Re: NFL.com's top 50 players in the game
Yeah, Shaun Alexander is a bit soft at times but he does deserve to be mentioned above Larry Johnson. I mean come on, if you're going to bitch about how good Alexander's OL play was how the hell do you "miss" the fact that Johnson's line has two guys who have been to the pro-bowl a combined 21 times.
Brian Urlacher shouldn't be that high. Steven Jackson? Who the f'ck is that? He's garbage. Richard Seymour before Dwight Freeney and Julius Peppers? That's crazy talk. p.s. Shockey should be on the list....j/k.

Re: NFL.com's top 50 players in the game
seymour is great, he doesn't get as much pub playing in a 3-4 though...
these ranking only include the top 2-3 at a position, and samuels is around #5 on the O tackle charts. |
