KC Joyner picks skins...

It seems like more and more of these experts are starting to lean towards giving the skins some credit heres a little snip from a chat with KC Joyner on espn...

Matthew (Modesto,CA): Who is this years sleeper team?

KC Joyner: (4:09 PM ET ) I really like what the Redskins have been doing. I think they overpaid for Brandon Lloyd, but having Lloyd and Randle El will give the depth at WR they sorely lacked last year. I also like the pickups of Andre Carter and Adam Archuleta. It will be a tough division to win but Gibbs knows how to pace his team for the playoff run.

Re: KC Joyner picks skins...

another gem:

Ron (DC): How does your system rank Santana Moss who exploded offensively last season.

KC Joyner: (4:53 PM ET ) Santana Moss was the #1 receiver in TYPCA last year. He averaged 28 yards per deep pass attempt, which is a ridiculously high number. He wasn't just good last year. He was dominant.

Good stuff. I certainly wouldn't call the Skins a sleeper tho.

Yea I think are days of sneaking up on teams are over. Some fans around the U.S might still not know about the Redskins yet. But you can be assured the others coaches and players do.

all i know is santana had a bunch of stat lines like:
2 catches for 74 yards...

he doesn't need to touch it that much to be effective.

yeah i dont really agree with the sleeper comment myself, but otherwise i do like to see some support finally comin our way, but i mean who can blame these guys they only get paid to watch sports all the time, who has time to pay attention to the playoffs?

I believe we are ready to win a SB but it all comes down to QB, and IMO that's a big question mark, even if Brunell steps up in the new offense can he stay healthy enough through the entire season? If not we have a problem Campbell I don't believe can win a SB at least not yet, which leaves us with a career backup in Collins who we really don't no how he will respond as a starter?

Without Brunell, our offense becomes one dimensional. Wouldn't matter who played. That could keep this team from achieving great things. However there is no more reason for Redskin fans to worry about Brunell's health than any of the other 31 teams have to worry about their QBs health. Even with the recent broken finger, it's a non issue. Sure he might get injured and miss game time, but theres no reason to assume he will.

nice post but i would have to respectfully disagree with your one dimensional remark.

the skins have too many weapons on offense to become one dimensional. between moss, EL, Lloyd, cooley and portis defenses can't just stack the box to prevent the run. i think saunders would call just as many pass plays with campbell under center as he would with brunell, plus campbell would also be a threat to run as brunell was from time to time last year.

just my thoughts on the situation.

Actually, I bet he wasn't one of those guys. Joyner is all stats. He is pretty objective when comes to his analysis. He may not have given us glowing reviews but, if he dissed us, he would have backed it up with stats. Generally, he doesn't trash teams but rather says things like "if they want to improve they need increase their run/pass ratio" and stuff like that.
