The Taylor Jacobs watch

Vote and discuss TJ's future with the team. Up to this point he's been disappointing, but he's going to camp with the team yet again and he's been talked up in the media by several of his teammates. Do they know something we don't? (Like that would be a first ) Or will he finally get the axe?

50-50. If they keep 6 WRs he stays. If they keep 5, hes gone.

Re: The Taylor Jacobs watch

how many wr's did we keep on the roster last year? If we can keep 6, he stays. He does play spec. teams.
if they put him on the practice squad someone would probably sign him.
You know it may sound crazy, but if it comes down to spec. teams, Patten doesn't play on em & his salary is more. I would hope he isn't cut, but if it made financial sense he may be as likely as TJ once its time to trim the roster.

Re: The Taylor Jacobs watch

damn, I thought this thread was about a pimpin' casio calculator watch personally signed by TJ.

He'll have plenty of time to sign watches as he'll be in the first round of cuts

Re: The Taylor Jacobs watch

They'd keep Thrash over him based on ST value alone. I know we preach quality depth for all positions, but the key word here is QUALITY.

He must have monster upside, a great work ethic and a crazy good personality because I can't figure out why he is still here.

Coaches and Gibbs see something, I think they really like his physical tools and they are waiting for him to catch up mentally.

I say he will stay.

Re: The Taylor Jacobs watch

I think someone is liking Taylor's "phyiscal tool" a little too much since he's STILL AROUND.

Re: The Taylor Jacobs watch

I think Jacobs spot is less about him vs. Thrash, and more about whether Patten gets traded. I found it to be peculiar that Saunders would go out of his way to praise a veteran #4 WR, unless it was to boost his value.

So, if during camp there is an offer for Patten, Jacobs is in better shape. If not, I'd say he's 25% max.

I don't think we'd get anything of value for Patten though. I have a feeling Patten will be a huge factor for us this year, Henry Ellard style.

Re: The Taylor Jacobs watch

I would second that. I don't think Patten has any value for what he makes currently. I feel that James Thrash has more value to our team then either Jacobs or Patten.

I havent given up on Patten though, and Ive completely given up on Jacobs. I know he would have lost his job in my company by now. Patten has had one injury interrupted year. I give him another go, and then see ya.

But I love James, his value to dollar ratio is through the roof.

25% chance he's gone, and I feel that he needs to be gone.

Re: The Taylor Jacobs watch

I voted what I think will happen, as opposed to what I HOPE will happen.

50/50. But I hope it's zero.

Stranger things have happened though. What we see and what the coaches see can be different things. Remember keeping Donovan Greer over Lloyd Harrison back in the Schottenheimer days? All Greer did was get toasted throughout preseason, while Harrison returned interceptions for touchdowns. Guess who got the axe?

Gibbs weighed Jacobs' performance to Darnerian McCants' and somehow, Jacobs survived. You just never know.

Re: The Taylor Jacobs watch

Jacobs will be on the team if: we keep 6 WRs which I highly doubt, OR if someone gets injured.

Otherwise I just don't see him staying over Thrash who is a coaching staff favorite and a quality teams guy, or Patten who is a proven vet.

I said something similar in another thread, that I think he could make some big catches on 3rd down. But he doesn't play spec. teams, so it could make sense to cut him.

So, are you in the minority who says TJ only has a 25% chance of staying?

I agree with those who say 50/50, and if we carry six WRs.
