Novak Released...
Nick Novak was released yesterday by the Arizona Cardinals...and his agent apparently contacted Washington. When asked, he stated that he would love to come back to DC.
From what i've heard he's had a great preseason...but Arizona couldnt keep him cause they already have Neil Rackers... In any case...i personally think Novak is a great young kicker (though i may be a little biased having just graduated from UMD and all) and that the skins should def bring him in to compete with Hall. Hall has had injury problems the past two years...and is getting a little older... And Novak could potentially give us a great kicker for years to come. What do you guys think??? |

I'd like to bring him in, but I'm biased like you seeing as I'm a big UMD fan

Re: Novak Released...
I knew it was only a matter of time before the Novak bandwagon got cranking again.
This staff seems to be sticking by Hall, why I dunno, guess they know something we don't, not like that would be a first or anything. Seems like if this staff really has questions about Hall, right now would be the time to make a move. |

Re: Novak Released...
Last year I wasn't REALLY on the Novak bandwagon, but honestly I don't think it could hurt.

Re: Novak Released...
maybe if the staff is sticking by Hall...then they can try and teach Novak to punt real quick...and have him compete with Frost.
He might have a pretty good chance of making the team that way... |

Re: Novak Released...
Please Gibbs, go get Novak!!!!! I think he is a fired up kicker and could be with us for a long time. He has to have a stronger leg than Hall and could help on kickoffs.

Re: Novak Released...
i wasn't on the novak bandwagon (he kicked low and was a constant threat be be blocked).
Unless he's gotten a lot better (i haven't seen him this pre-season) he's not the answer. but honestly, hall looks beyond done and it' probably be an improvement :/ |

Re: Novak Released...
I got on the Novak bandwagon last year but that's mainly because I was sitting in the lower level endzone area when he nailed the game-winning field goal versus Seattle. Too high on life not be excited about him. Of course he wasn't spectacular afterwards but his first impression for me was a lasting one.

Re: Novak Released...
I dont think we have seen nearly enough of Hall this preseason to make even a cursory deduction on whether he is gonna be any good. Supposedly this surgery he had was supposed to fix everything back to new but who knows. All I do know is that unless Novak has gotten better he isn't any better than John Hall at 80-90%. Novak actually has less leg and hasn't done anything in the league near enough to be considered reliable yet. I'd love a better answer than Hall but Novak aint is guys. I am more concerned about our punting right now because we have plenty of evidence that Frost blows and always has.

Re: Novak Released...
Grab Nick the Kick now! I'd hate to see Hall's limp leg cost us a game early on.

Re: Novak Released...
this is a case if this were coach gibbs first go round novak would be hidden on injured reserve with some mysterious illness

Re: Novak Released...
We definitely should pick him up! Who is doing our kickoffs? We haven't scored in so long I forgot. I do remember Hall doing kickoffs and he is horrible at them. Rarely, does he put it inside the five, much less the end zone. Besides, if we pick up Novak to do kickoffs and Hall goes down, at least we'll have someone to fill in. I'm just not convinced Hall's leg or his accuracy is what is used to be.

Re: Novak Released...
If he's been at AZ for a while, he may have improved his technique a bit by working alongside one of the games premier kickers in Rackers - it surely can't hurt to at least have a look.
