49ers castoff updates after 2 games.

This was posted by really well respected poster on the Niners MB. Just thought it might interest some of you guys, because of the few guys you got from us, and some of other prominant players that left through FA.

Pretty accurate assessment after 2 weeks. I hope there's a big change in his summary after week 17.

The only guy I miss is JP, he was out of place in our 3-4 but man could he cover just about any TE in the league. Not a great pass rusher but we could still use him. Not worth the money Seattle gave him though.

Rumph made a tremendous play when he ripped the TD away from T.O. last night. He atoned for some bad plays with that one.

Right now, Rumph will have to make do for us.

To me it looked like he got burned but TO couldn't get a hold of it in time and Rumph got in there to make the play. The broken finger bothered him a lot I think, normally TO has that TD.

Yeah, T.O. slipped inside on the slant with Rumph trailing, but he recovered. Not sure which hand has the broken finger, but it was a hell of a play.

But judging from you and other 49er fans, I suppose that will be it for Rumph's highlight reel for another 6 or 7 games, right?

I don't expect a lot of highlight plays from Rumph or Taylor Jacobs, who is already hurt! LOL. What a pathetic trade that was. Nearly as pathetic as Rashaun Woods for Sammy Davis.

Re: 49ers castoff updates after 2 games.

rumph looks like the best 49er we got. we seriously shouldn't be shopping through a 4-12 team's garbage.

rumph for taylor "i think i have a concussion" jacobs was a steal though. not because rumph is good (he does add decent depth) but because jacobs is absolutely worthless.

Rumph almost had an INT in Week One too if he hadn't been trucked by Sean Taylor. I think he's a decent nickel CB. He's been better than Kenny Wright.

I don't know if I would call it a 'steal'. You guys have gotten the better end so far no noubt, but receiving Mike Rumph in any way shape or form cannot be labled a steal.
