What's up with this:

"Training camp will be closed to the public. And media access is going to be limited."

I had heard he was locking down access to the mini-camps, but not to training camp. I hope Nunyo is wrong on this one.

Nunyo is the new Redskins beat reporter for the Washington Post since Mark Maske moved on to broader NFL coverage

My guess is that some but not all practices will be closed to the public

He's been covering the Skins pretty regularly for the WP lately. He seems to be at Ashburn when anything is happening.

I'm just hoping he misinterpreted Gibbs when he was discussing locking down the mini-camps.

"Gibbs doesn’t use fullbacks so in a bid to make the team, Rock has gone down from 225 to about 215 and he's looked pretty good."

Interesting. I actually thought Rock was a bit bigger -- like 240 or something. In fact, last year's Sporting News Pro Football yearbook has him listed at 239. Then again, players' weights do fluctuate throughout the season.

Rock seems more ideal as a Ricky Ervins type of RB as opposed to a fullback anyway. 5'7" and 215 is pretty small, but he runs hard (remember the 4th and inches against Seattle last year inside the Skins own 30 yard line?).

I sure would like to see him make the roster. Is there enough room for him with Portis, Betts and Morton, along with all the H-backs?

I think we got enough speed and explosiveness with portis and morton. What i think we really need at RB is one power back. This is redskins football after all. We get teams worn down trying to stop portis. And then boom hit them with a change of pace of power. Hopefully Betts can be that guy. He's around 220. ten more pounds and he can pound inside. That will also help in short yardage situations.

Rock was 240 2 years ago. Last year he dropped to 225 or so, but he lost his leverage and some of his blocking skills. Unfortunately, I can't see how being 215 is gonna help him.

So far.
For now, he's just writing facts; no commentary.

As a beat reporter I don't think he'll be writing much commentary
