Giant Steps

The win against the Jags was great but now it's time for a divisional game against the NY Football Giants. I have few concerns about this game after all they kicked our asses last year. My real concern is with the Redskins themselves. Will they show up? Will they come down from the high of the Jags game?

The Giants are coming of a bye week so you know they will be prepared. I'm pretty sure they'll have worked on their weaknesses as well. What do you think the Redskins game plan aught to be? How should we defend Eli because I guarantee you they'll be using no huddle quite a bit. Plastico and ShockJock don't really concern me but I'm worried about Toomer and Tiki. Will Mr Holdman redeem himself?

NY is going to be a hostile environment...and the Giants aren't gonna rollover and die. The Redskins will have show up with their spears and tomahawk in hand.

I think this game poses some problems for the Skins. The middle of the field on passing downs appears to be a problem and Shockey/Barber can exploit that area. We will need another stellar performance from the d to stop the run to have ANY chance in this game.

I think the offense can put some points on the board. Early going may be a little difficult, but if they stick with the running game and can stay within 7-10 points they can pull it out in the end. It all starts with the running game and this week it is sooooooooo true!

We must run the ball and stiff the run. Force Eli to beat you with pressure on him. He did it against the iggles, but you saw what happened against the colts and seahags.

If our offense establishes the run, that, as per the last two games, will open up the pass. The gints looked troubled in pass D against the hags. And we get time of possession, which keeps their D out there, and takes the crowd out of it. Obviously, this is pretty standard stuff, but it works (see Joe Gibb, HOF, etc...). If the gints get down, they could implode, given their bickering. But I agree that they'll be ready after their bye. We seem to play a lot of teams on short weeks for us or after their byes this season.

As long as we keep running the ball and throwing short to medium passes we''ll win b/c we force them to quickstirke and we'll wear down there defense. Look at Jax by the time we got to overtime that great defense was exhausted. Great winning formula by saunders.

First and foremost our Offence is on fire, and the Giants secondary does not seem like it can cover our weapons. They couldn't against the Colts or the Eagles, and Id argue we have mor weapons then both teams. Not to mention that Usi and Strahan haven't been able to get to the Quarterback, and there is no way that is gonna change against a pumped up O-line. We are gonna pound the ball down their throats and they wont be able to stop it, Mike Sellers will flatten Lavar, and when they move their safetys up Santana will make them pay. As for their bye-week preparation, they'll be able to fix some of their issues, but which offence are they gonna prepare for: the dink-and-dunk offence we showed against the Texans or the gritty pound-it-out then go-deep offence we showed this week. Either way you know Saunders wont do either, they have no clue what is coming next week and their defence is going to be picked apart.

As far as their offence is concerned, G-men are a little scarey,but if they can't get a running game going they are cooked. Tiki will bet shutdown despite his performance at home last year, our line and linebackrs are too tough. While our secondary is still suspect I doubt we will see such a poor performance this week. Wright and Rumph look better every week, and as for those pee-weesque arm tackles this week, you have to know G-dubb will be tearing them a new ass for that this week in practice. He'll be putting them in Oklahomas against Sellers untill they can learn to wrap up, or at least thats what I'd do. You'll learn to wrap up pretty quick when you take that kind of beating. Finally, our pass rush though previously nonexistant looks like it is starting to get fired up, Andre Carter says he is starting to feel comfortable at DE again, and with G-Dubbs packages If we keep improving like we have on D we'll shut em out, especially if we can shut down Tiki and get to Manning.....maybe Carlos will even get a pick....finally

Last year, we laid an egg against them for two reasons:

1. They had emotion on their side after the passing of Mara and the moving rendition of the Star Spangled Banner from Kate Mara.
2. We got cocky after laying 52 pts on the 49ers.

This year is different cuz we're coming off a tough win against a good team. I think the cockiness will be in check.

Interesting that just a week after facing his former team now Brunell faces his former coach.

I think this will come down simply to Gibbs and co. outcoaching Coughlin and his compadres. TC cant keep up with JG and his jedi mind tricks

No doubt it will be a tough game much like the one last night but what really kept the Jags in that game last night were mistakes made by us.

Im not worried about the run game much at all to tell u the truth are run defence is awsome. (after all we held the jags to 33 yrds)

Gotta watch the pass although I saw a great deal of improvement in the secoundary this week that i was not expecting against some giant recievers of the Jagies

It's going to boil down to the trenches. I'm not all that worried that they will be able to get to Brunell and Portis in the backfield on our OL, I expect a few 10-12 play drives. We need to be able to pressure Manning with 4 or 5 people. He doesn't like pressure in his face and will throw the ball up for grabs. We need to be able to capitalize on those mistakes with turnovers. Arrington will be NO factor and Taylor can take Shockey out of the game. Containing Tiki is the key to victory. Hail.

I think this game will boil down to intensity. Let's face it, the Giants can come back from a deficit. They play well under pressure, no need to fool ourselves on that. However, here are the things I think play to our favor. They have two new faces on their linebacking corps. LaVar, who has been largely ineffective so far this season and whoever is replacing the oft injured Carlos Emmons. To me,this is where the game will be won. We'll create some good match ups and exploit that. Also, mentally I'm not sure where this team is. I'm not sure everyone has fully bought into the Coughlin way. I know Plaxico isn't crazy about him. Shockey isn't. Tiki has expressed his sentiments as well.

Can this translate down to a single game - maybe. But if we can combine those question marks with a hot Redskins offense, and a mean ass Mike Sellers plowing the way for CP and Betts.....I say we win this one, 24*10.

Tiki must be stopped at all cost. That's why stopping the run was such an encouragement this week. The Giants are very scizophrenic. The Good Giants pound it all day with Tiki and the Bad Giants throw 45 times a game. To me it's coaching, as Tafkas pointed out.

Offensively we should do okay, because their defense looks terrible. Perhaps they will play differently coming off the bye and Lavar will be hyped, yada yada , but in the first three games, they got decent play from their front four and Pierce and everyone else looke like shite.

our DBs match up better against bigger slower WRs and GW focuses on taking out their RB and #1 WR... we'll see how it goes, but our secondary is still a BIG concern. Tyree would be a good sleeper FF pick here btw.

We didn't stop Tiki and we certainly didn't stop Toomer who gashed us for two big plays. We got spanked. And our handicapped offense showed up.
