PS2 or XBox
This isn't specifically a Madden question. I was just wondering which console you guys prefer PS2 or XBox?
I'll admit I've been mooching off my friends, playing at their houses, the past few years. But I'm thinking of actually taking the plunge and making my own purchase. Just wondering what you guys thought. I mainly just play sports games. I think I'm leaning toward PS2, the controls feel a bit more comfortable

If you want to go online to play Madden and other EA Sports games, PS2 is the clear choice, they have exclusive rights to EA online, for now at least, and it's free. You have to pay to go online with the box.
Xbox is the superior system graphics wise. Why not get them both? LOL I have the cube and the PS2, I've got my eye on the Xbox, perhaps when Halo 2 drops I'll have to pick up the box. |

they are only releasing Madden Limited Edition on PS2, so that would win my vote alone. XBOX does have better graphics because its a computer basically, but I like PS2 best simply because they have the best controller. I think the play station controller has always been the bset designed controller.
A more simple thing, my friends with xbox hate that you have to buy an extra piece to use it as a dvd player.

I have the cube and I like it, but if I had the choice I'd go with the xbox simply because of it's superior graphics and a much wider selection of games. But if you're into nintendo's original games like Zelda, Mario, Metroid, etc. than it's definitely worth having.
Hell, with how cheap the systems are now, it's worth it to pick up more than one. I picked up the PS2 a few months ago and I really like having two systems. |

XBOX is my game console of choice. I suck at Madden so I've limited myself to 10 hours a day of Morrowind.

I'm now the proud owner of both an XBox and a GameCube. I've had the XBox for a couple years, but I just purchased the GC a couple months ago. I finally caved, after my wife had been urging me for a couple years to buy one so that she could play all the new Mario games.
I'm still primarily an XBox player, with Madden being the only game I ever really play. I'll stick with XBox for Madden 2005, especially now that it works with XBox Live. I love the graphics and hard drive of the XBox. It definitely rocks not having to mess with memory cards. I also like the fact that the controllers are bigger than those for ps2 and GC. My hands always cramp up really bad on the smaller controllers those platforms use. The XBox controllers are much more comfortable in my opinion. However, for those who prefer the smaller controllers, you can buy smaller ones for the XBox at Best Buy. They have some that are tiny, for smaller hands. I do like the GameCube's fluidity as far as frame rates go. You hardly ever see any hiccups in the movement. It seems a little better than the XBox in that respect. |

Ebay has some good deals on the xbox right now, you can get a used xbox complete with a controller and a pre-owned copy of Halo for $119.99, and only $5.99 shipping.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...112620514&rd=1 I think I may have to jump on this deal, even though I'll feel pathetic owning all 3 game systems, LOL. |

I really like the GC and I think it's very underrated. As far as graphics and load times go I like it better than the PS2. |

xbox live is the best as far as online console gaming... its unified, you can see all your contacts online and send them invites even if they're in the middle of another game. So instead of having just the people in the chat room of the online service of the exact game you happen to be playing, you have all your online friends all the time etc... so, if you're big on that stuff, xbox
As far as game selection, the ps2 has more, especially rpgs, but right now the xbox has quite a line up of high quality games too. |

All three are great! PS2 is still 'de facto', simply because people are still holding on to thier older games. Why? I don't know. I buy only Madden every year and keep the lastest golf (Outlaw Golf for now) and boxing game Knockout Kings/Fight Night. I had XBox for two and half years and wouldn't trade it for anything else (except for Redskins collectibles). As I will demolish many of my comrades on thier own PS2 in Madden, you'll have to agree that the Xbox controller is a lot more ergonomic than PS2s and GC has that little quirk called the Z button. Most of us guys however, are technophiles. We're itching to buy the next best thing... PS3!
