Dear Mr. Snyder, PLEASE SELL THE TEAM!!!!
I am a huge O's fan. Anyone else who is an O's fan knows how tough it's been over the past decade because of all the poor decisions, or indecisions for that matter, by owner Peter Angelos. Now, the other love of my life, the Washington Redskins, have fallen victim to the same dismal plight as my beloved Orioles -- HORRIBLE OWNERSHIP! Seriously, what does Daniel Snyder think he's going? You'd think that a man as smart as Snyder, after all he is filthy rich, would be able to learn from past mistakes, such as breaking up playoff teams. Remeber what happened the season after we made the playoffs in 1999? Snyder signed a bunch of big name free agents and sent the team into six years of sub par seasons. Ok, you know what, that's fine. Snyder was just trying to do what he thought was best for the team, but it did not work. So, what does he do after we make the playoffs last season? He removes key players from our defense to sign big name veterans such as Carter and Archuleta, and the result is exactly the same as last time!!!!! When will he realize that team chemistry is more important than who is on the team?
However, in Snyder's defense, I believe he was right in signing Lloyd and Randle El because we NEEDED other offensive Weapons besides Portis, Moss, and Cooley. The lack of offensive weapons is why we lost in the playoffs last year. So, yes, good Job Mr. Snyder in signing players that we needed. Then, what does Snyder go and do? He takes his money hungry fingers, firmly places them around the throat of our offense and begins to squeeze tighter and tighter until the life was choaked out. How did he do this? By signing Al Saunders. Let's just review the facts real quick. Jow Gibbs is one of the best coaches in history, his offense has won three superbowls and finally returned the skins to the playoffs last year. So for some reason beyond my comprehension, he signs Al Saunders to totally rip apart what the team had built up on offense for the past two years, and really would have had some promise with the additions of Lloyd and Randle El. What's the point in having Gibbs if he doesnt even run the offense? Any fan going to the Dallas game should make anti-Snyder shirts and signs and wear them during the game. When will Snyder take some accountability? When will he learn that you cannot buy a championship? Maybe he should ask George Steinbrenner. |

Amen. Things haven't been right since he bought the team. It's become all about making money instead of winning Super Bowl rings.

Doesn't this rant assume that Dan Snyder was the one picking the players?
To my knowledge, that wasn't even close to the case. Gibbs and Williams picked this crop of free agents. Don't hang Snyder, hang the coaches. It was their call.

Re: Dear Mr. Snyder, PLEASE SELL THE TEAM!!!!
As I have stated in previous posts. Dan Snyder did NOT, I repeat, DID NOT request those players. Our hall of fame coach and defensive coach requested these players. Dan simply signs the checks. The coaches,Joe is the president, he has the say on who comes here and who goes. It was joe that flew the KC to talk to Saunders, no Dan. It was Joe who said these players are going to make us better, lets UPGRADE!!. such an over used word! You can even compare Snyder and Angelos. Snyder cares about his team and city. He spends all his money on making the team better, our coaches are dropping the ball on this. In O's land its the exact opposite. Angelos refuses to pay top dollars for players that will improve our team, and the coaches actually do a half decent job of getting those scrubs to win 60 to 70 games. Fans have got to stop blaming Snyder. Joe gets what he asked for. and he loves the free agency in the NFL. why do you think we give away draft picks. he wants players that can contribute now.

Re: Dear Mr. Snyder, PLEASE SELL THE TEAM!!!!
I know the conspiracy theorists want to believe that Snyder is somehow meddling with personnel, but ever since Gibbs came back all we've heard is how he's taken a backseat and Gibbs and the rest of the staff collectively make the personnel decisions, and Snyder is the main negotiator.
Blaming Snyder is really a tired excuse that doesn't hold much merit anymore. |

Re: Dear Mr. Snyder, PLEASE SELL THE TEAM!!!!
do i want an owner that spends every last bit of money that counts against the cap? or do i want the bidwells, who look at football as a business just to make money? Snyder's football decisions have been questionable, but i don't think anyone here can question his desire to win. there isn't a skins fan alive that wasn't thinking big things when Snyder brought back Gibbs. we probably need a legitimate general manager, making the personnel picks,a la bobby bethard in Gibbs first go round.

Re: Dear Mr. Snyder, PLEASE SELL THE TEAM!!!!
great, show me the quotes and citations proving vinny and danny have no say please. gibbs has said (back when he was hired) that he, danny, and vinny talked about players. since then i have seen NOTHING to counter that. so please stop acting like your opinion is an actual fact, cause unless you're in the room, there's really no way to know.

The preponderance of the evidence suggests that Gibbs and Williams are making the decisions on player personnel. Saying Snyder is making these decisions seems to lean on rumor and conjecture more than anything.

Re: Dear Mr. Snyder, PLEASE SELL THE TEAM!!!!
Snyder has said repeatedly that Gibbs has the final call over players.
I'd love to see some evidence to the contrary. |

yes, Vinny gives a list of players that are available via free agency or restricted FA. Joe talks to them about these players. Joe is the president, he makes the calls on players..bottom line. who stays, who goes. Joe is god to us and especially Dan. Like I said, what Joe wants, Joe gets. Dan does not say no especially coming from his boy hood idol. the only quote you need is "join me in introducing our new head football coach and president of football operations, Joe Gibbs!!" |

Re: Dear Mr. Snyder, PLEASE SELL THE TEAM!!!!
First we didn't make the radical changes on defense this offseason that I keep hearing. We replaced Clark with Archuleta and supposedly added the pass rusher we'd been missing with Carter. That's it. The biggest issue to the defense this year has been injuries. Second, are you saying that Snyder hired Saunders behind Gibbs' back? Ok, whatever keeps you happy I guess. Third, there is no comparing Angelos and Snyder. Angelos has his sons and son in laws running the team. Mike Flanagan is essentially a figure head there.

"The coach has the final say. We'll go through the whole process. We'll put everybody in an order. Then it will come down to the coach saying this is what I need or this is what I don't need. Dan takes no say so in the player moves. He gives it all to Coach Gibbs. We all work together to come up with an answer and then the coach makes the final call. Like he says, somebody has to make the final call. He does. He takes all the information and the thing that he does that's great is we go over it and over it and he asks everybody's opinion and everybody's opinion counts, from the trainers, to the strength coaches, to the scouts, to everybody. He wants every opinion, every bit of information, then we'll make a good decision and he'll make the final call." EXTREMESKINS.com - Final transcript of the Vinny Cerrato Chat.
