Semi-Pro Football

Have any of you guy played/tried out for a semi-pro football? This guy at my gym invited me to come and try out for a semi-pro football team he is on. I haven't played football in 7 years so I'm kind of hesitant about it.

Nope, but it sounds like a blast. Id try out if you have the time. Could be a lot of fun.

I toyed with the idea of trying out for Richmond's AF2 team a few years ago, but never followed through with it. The Richmond Speed were pretty good, but they folded a couple years ago.

I was a personal trainer for a few years, and I was in the best shape of my life, so I figured I might as well do something useful with myself while I was in my athletic prime. Unfortunately, with the schedule I was working, it just didn't permit much time for other pursuits. I still wish I had tried out, just for the sake of knowing I had given it a shot.

If you have the opportunity and time to do it, I would go for it. Better to try and fail than to die never knowing, right? Besides, you might really enjoy it.

What position would you be trying out for, saden1?

They practice around 6 on Tuesdays and Thursdays and play on Saturdays. I think I'll just go see what it's like before making a commitment. I'm in OK shape but I still need some work. Right now I'm 6'5" 250lb. I'll play either defensive end or tight end. I'd rather play tight end though.

Jeez, saden1, if I was built like you I'd definitely give semi-pro ball a shot! Sounds like you're the perfect size for a tight end. I'd think the semi-pro coaches would love to get a hold of you.

give it a shot saden, what do you have to lose?

Football is like riding a bike, it will all come back to you quickly.

good luck!

if football is like riding a bike and it comes back quickly how come the Redskins keep signing people that have been out for a year because of injury, or drugs or wahtever then come back and suck?!?!

Not to say youll suck, just whinning about the Skins for a minute.
