Dominating D-Line
I had an Eagles fan ask me when the last time the Redskins had a dominant D-Line. So, I am turning to my friends at the warpath to help me. I would say it was Manley, Grant, Butz and Mann. Which is a very long time ago. Does anyone have a different line up in mind?

Re: Dominating D-Line
I would say that's the most recent "dominating" defensive line consistently. 2004's defensive line was fairly dominant.

Re: Dominating D-Line
That's the best line I remember, though the 91 line was pretty good, I recall.
2004's line was fantastic against the run, but didn't have that Manley/Mann type pressure from the edge. Still, they were the heart of a top-10 D.

Re: Dominating D-Line
It's been so long since the Skins have had even a good defensive line. I would have to concur that Dexter Manley, Charles Mann, Darryl Grant and Dave Butz was the last excellent line. The current Redskin line is barely adequate. Griffin and Daniels are good when they are not injured. That's probably the biggest problem with the defensive line, there is no consistancy because of injuries.

Re: Dominating D-Line
I grew up watching that line and NO ONE ever ran in the middle. I didn't even know that teams had running plays in the middle until Butz left.

Re: Dominating D-Line
Ask him when was the last time that the Eagles won the "Big One" ?
What about the line we had when Darryl Gardner was here ? Was Marco Coleman here at the same time ? Gardner was a freaking BEAST ! Everytime they showed him bitching out opposing O-Lineman I used to always yell MOVE SUCKA!!!!! Wow I was ripped up ! Well he did crash like a Kamikaze Pilot in Denver. Now the last great, It would be the '91 team I think.

Re: Dominating D-Line
I concur w/Manley, Grant, Mann, Butz - 2 run stuffin tackes & 2 speed rushing ends, though Mann was an all around great de.
Before that it'd have to be the "over the hill gang" that G. Allen had w/Diron Talbert et al. |
