F...Shaving
This is for all my hirsute brothers out there who get 5 o'clock shadows by noon.
So what do you all use-electric razor or blade? For all the bladers out there what kind do you use?

Re: F...Shaving
I use a blade, but man razor burn pisses me off. I don't get in but like every one out of ten times I shave, but today is a bad day all around.

Re: F...Shaving
Gotta go blade. Electric kills my skin. All the pulling of the hair and stuff. I use the uber fantastic Fusion. I used to use the Mach 3 but the Fusion blows it out of the water. And the blades last forever,

Blades only! -- and none of that 3, 4, or 5 blade sh*t. Only 2 for me, although they are becoming increasingly difficult to find.
A tip for razor burn: never shave against the grain of hair growth, and shave after showering when your skin is softer.

Re: F...Shaving
I change my Mach 3 Turbo blades out once a week. After about a week it's like I'm peeling a potato. How often do you change your Fusion blades?

Re: F...Shaving
Yeah I shave in the shower. Gotta have that hot water. I had been using the Fusion, which I thought was a godsend. But lately I've been using just the 2-blade disposable. I don't notice much, if any, drop off in quality and it saves me money.

Re: F...Shaving
Anybody use a straight razor? I had that done once when I got a haircut in Florida and it was the best shave I've ever gotten.

Re: F...Shaving
I've tried to convert to electric but it just does such a shitty job on my neck. I have to go over spots so much I eventually get electric burn and that's even worse than razor burn.
My secret is this, before I even put on shaving cream I put a layer of vitamin E gel on my face, that really helps out a lot. Then I only use one kind of shaving cream and I'm telling you this stuff is great! Aveeno Therapeutic Shave Gel with Natural Colloidal Oatmeal It's a bit pricey for shaving cream but it's really worth it. I highly recommend it. Wal-mart and Target usually carries it too. |

Re: F...Shaving
I use the Fusion too, but I feel like the blades don't last nearly as long as my old Mach 3's did. Plus, like all razors, the Fusion's blades are really expensive; I just bought an 8 pack for like $23, but I need them. I pony up the money because they work really well and I like the single blade on the back because I can use it around the edges of my goatee.
But yeah, F... shaving.

Re: F...Shaving
I tried to get a shave once at a barbershop using a straight razor. The guy had to quit though because I was laughing so hard thinking about the Dumb & Dumber scene when Jim Carrey gets a shave and slaps a ketchup pack to his neck causing the barber to faint.

I own a really nice straight razor that I bought from Solingen, Germany. It's sweet, but it takes me about an hour to shave, so I don't use it much.

Re: F...Shaving
Blade. Mach 3 turbo or whatever, but like Malcolm, I get razor burns here and there.
A good trick to avoid razor burns, and still get a close shave is to grab a rag and soak it in hot water then put it on your face for at least a minute. That will soften your skin and open up your pores. Trust me it works. As for shaving cream, I use the Nivea for men products. They're the $hit. |
