I don't agree with the pick for Natalie Gilbert... she was the young girl who was singing the national anthem for a Portland Trailblazers game and got stage fright and just lost it. Mo Cheeks came out to center court to calm her down and sang it along with her.
Two thumbs up for Mo on that one. Class act! Natalie Gilbert? Oh please. Not to diminish Billy Buckner, as deserving as he is, but what I want to know is... Where in the hell is Scott Norwood?

some of the choices were pretty crappy like the baseball ones with the guys getting the ball stuck in their glove. thats not a blunder. what year did the buckner thing happen cuz if it was before 79 then it didn't qualify but if it did then maybe they're just tired of picking on the poor guy. I agree about how could the guy who ran the fumble the wrong way not be on the list and the little girl singing shouldn't have been on the list.

Buckner was in '86. My Mets ROCKED it that year!
The "wrong way fumble dude" was in the mid 60's, I believe, so it would be way out of the time scope. Though I don't remember exactly who, for some reason I think it was the Vikes Jim Marshall, one of the Purple People Eaters...

Yeah I think it was Marshall. That's wrong that they put Gilbert on there. If anything they should have put Roseanne Barr on there for intentionally butchering the national anthem in San Diego
Besides Norwood how about Thurman losing his helmet on the Bills opening drive in Super Bowl 26. I pretty much knew right there it was gonna be a good night for the Skins

Buckner and Norwood were definitely bad plays, but guys like Lett and Gus were mistakes. Norwood didn't make a mistake - he missed a kick.
Thomas losing his helmet should be there, in place of Natalie Gilbert. Why ESPN feels the need to pick on a child...

If the definition of blunder is "What were they thinking?!?!" vs. making a bad play, then there are plenty of others that qualify...
Mike Tyson's ear chewing incidents. Dwayne Rudd throwing his helmet thinking the game was over early in the season a couple years ago. The Browns missed the playoffs because of that one play/game. Clemens beaning Piazza, then throwing the bat at him later that year. Say what you will... I think it was intentional. Gary Barnett. Colorado football coach. "Not only was she a girl, but she was terrible". Nuff said. A close second for the Colorado president saying that the "C" word could be used as a term of endearment. Yeah, in prison maybe. How about Bobby Knight? On double secret probabtion with a zero tolerance behavior clause, he grabs a kid on campus and screams at him for saying "Hey.. what's up Knight?". One word, Bobby. Lithium. And as sad as it is/was, how about the fateful decision Len Bias made? The Georgetown guard passing the ball to James Worthy in the Hoyas backcourt to seal the NCAA finals for Carolina. One of the Fab Five (Webber?) calling timeout in the NCAA finals against Carolina when they had none with time expiring. Technical, ball and game to UNC. The NFL ref (Phil Luckett) who got the overtime coin toss wrong after Bettis clearly said "Tails" in a Pittsburgh/Detroit 1998 Thanksgiving game. The same ref (Luckett) who gave Vinny and the Jets a touchdown against Seattle on a QB sneak when he was clearly a yard away.

oh ok.
another blunder was neil o'donnel throwing 2 ints pretty much straight at larry brown in that superbowl game of the steelers vs the cowpies. or how about that dunk that MJ missed a season or 2 ago? that was pretty funny. or the bartman incident? or how about that french judge thing at the last winter olympics? and if they wanna get on someone messing up the national anthem then how about the terrible job Carl Lewis did? and yeah, clemens did all that stuff intentionally and mostly cuz he knew he wouldn't have any retaliation coming his way in the form of a 90mph fastball since he didn't have to bat while in the al. he and pedro r a lot alike in that aspect. has clemens even had anything close to looking like an intentional bean ball this year since he switched to the astros? |

And oh yeah.... how about the Wimbledon judge just last week giving away the phantom point in the second set tiebreaker of Venus' loss?
That was a beaut!
