NFL Live: Dre Bly Rumors
Just saw yet another London Fletcher is as good as signed report on NFL Live but the additional comments were more interesting. Smith stated that we are going to make a trade with the Lions for Dre Bly.
Here's the question, who do we trade. My guess would be Arch, giving him a chance to get back with Mike Martz. Any thoughts fellas?

Re: NFL Live
like I said before...I'm not really sure what all we have TO trade...this better not be that stupid Portis crap again. No way we are trading him.

Re: NFL Live
I like Bly, but I haven't heard rumors of him coming here (not lately)

Re: NFL Live
I doubt Arch has ANY trade value right now and it'd be a cap killer to deal him. We don't have the picks to trade to get Bly (unless they want a 5th rounder) and the only player commodity we have is Betts who I don't see us dealing.. I call BS on this rumor.

Re: NFL Live
What do we trade? Knowing us - the 6th pick, our 5th rounder, and Betts for Bly.
Actually, thinking about it. If they do pull the trigger on this one, probably Betts and a late rounder for Bly (not saying it's a good trade, just saying it might be possible).

Re: NFL Live
right now, I think Betts is worth more than Bly...if anything, I would hope they would give us picks

Re: NFL Live
betts or a WR is all we have to offer... unless they want a huge contract like springs has. betts and patten have easily moveable contracts. If fletcher is our big signing, we'll need that #6 pick for DL, and we won't have nearly enough for clements after that (unless you want to completely blow up the team in 2 years), so it makes sense we're looking for a trade. bly's pretty solid, but generally GW wants tackling CBs, and he's more coverage.

Re: NFL Live
Betts is more of a Joe Gibbs style running back. Betts has the potential of being a Stephen Davis.... Portis can't handle the North & South running.

Re: NFL Live
Isn't Bly over 30 by now? If so, I'd be against the move as we are already brining in a vet over 30 who is expected to start.

Re: NFL Live
Portis seemed to handle it just fine in '05. Betts needs to learn how to hold onto the football (after costing us 3 games last year) before I'll give him the props due a starting RB.

Re: NFL Live
Yeah, for some reason, I'm not crazy about bringing in Dre Bly either. Maybe someone can convince me otherwise.
The fact that there could be a "trade" involved to get him makes me even more uneasy. If that's the case, that would indicate that Bly is still under contract with the Lions. Aren't there any other corners around the league we could swap for? |

Re: NFL Live
It sounds like to me that the madness is about to start all over again. Isn't March our Super Bowl month?
