If we do draft Gaines Adams where do we put him?
Gaines Adams seems like he would fit in nicely here in Washington. I mean who wouldn't want a dominant college end that runs in the 4.6 range (4.64 to be exact) whos childhood dream seems to be playing for the Washington Redskins.
The problem is that Gaines is considered undersized for a defensive end. Also consider the fact that the organization is pretty happy with Andre Carter on the right side (usually used for speed rushers). I mean maybe he could be our own version of Lenord Little (undersized Left DE) but he was complimented by Grant Winstrom during the Rams super bowl run. So my question is if we do draft Gaines Adams where do we put him?

Next to Randy Thomas at lunch.
He needs help from a professional eater.

Not trying to be a jerk, but did you really need to start a 3rd thread about Gaines Adams?

if we draft him you have to put him opposite phillip daniels on 1st and 2nd down then bring in carter for daniels on third downs....use him in situations...maybe drop daniels down inside with griffin and line up with adams, griff, daniels, carter.....thats how i see it going down if we draft a defensive end who is 260

Let's convert him to goal line short yardage back.

People seem to have the idea that Adams is an Andre Carter clone. Not so. He can take Daniels' spot and play every down. If Carter is still a bust, Daniels and the others would share time at the other side.

two 260lb DEs are NOT going to stop the run. carter can't, and gaines "i won't lift at the combine cause it'll hurt my draft stock" adams probably won't either.

That's becasue he's about the same size as Carter. But if the guy can play then it does not matter how much he weighs. I assume that he will put on weight anyway.

I didn't know he bitched out on the bench press. Terrible. But then again Charles Hayley never lifted weights so.....

Re: If we do draft Gaines Adams where do we put him?
Im pretty sure were going to pick Gaines Adams, Gibbs seems to be falling in love with him. Lets look at the history:Gibbs wanted Taylor all along and picked him, Gibbs wanted Cooley and not Winslow and traded up to pick him, Gibbs wanted Carlos Rogers and no one else and picked him, Gibbs wanted Campbell and picked him, Gibbs wanted Rocky Mcintosh more than any other LB and picked him. With that in mind, he seems to fall in love with one player and no matter who else is there they seem to always pick that guy, I dont believe the trade back hoopla, thats just not a Gibbs thing, we will pick Gaines Adams, although I would much rather see Branch,Willis, or Johnson in a skins uni next year, getting Gaines Adams really isnt all that bad.

Alex Brown:6'3" 260 Ogunleye:6'4" 260 teams only averaged 99.4 rush yards a game against them, so that threory that you need a large defensive end to stop the run sort of goes out the window. Sorry im just tired of hearing that Gaines is to small, he was great all through college. And for the person that was complaining about him not bench pressing, come on, do you really think that matters, just ask the eagles about a guy named Mike Mamula, probably the greatest "combine" player of all time. |
