Mark Wilson set to sign
Per the Times:
The Redskins had few complications negotiating with Wilson, an offensive lineman from the University of California. The 6-foot-6, 295-pound guard/tackle, who will compete in camp for a backup roster spot, will be in town today to sign his deal. Exact terms were unclear, but it is believed Wilson agreed to a three-year contract worth slightly more than $1 million with a signing bonus around $120,000. |

Lower-round picks tend to be a bit shorter in length. Derrick Dockery, a 3rd rounder, got a three year deal if I remember correctly (the 'Skins wanted him for 4 years).
Or you can look at it another way. Either Mark Wilson's agent thinks Wilson has the potential to be better than a 5th rounder's salary and so he wanted a short term deal, or the 'Skins don't think that much of him and so they signed him to a shorter deal. |

Many (if not most) later round picks are usually signed to a 3 year deal, which makes them a restricted FA when the contract expires. That way, the team has the right to match any offers, or get an equivalent draft pick if they don't. But, I'm sure everyone knows how all that works after last year!

We havent really talked about Cooley, but aside from Taylor he is the last unsigned draft pick. He could really step in this season, I hope there are no problems there, although I cant remember the last time a third rounder held out

contract situations are looking like they'll be cleared up in short order. The skins only have 4, and it looks like cooley will be done by next week... Taylor is still going to be hard pressed to get in on time, but at least he has an agent.
