Chesapeake Jubilee BBQ Competition
Hey Guys I'll be down in Chesapeake Virginia this weekend competing in the Chesapeake Jubilee State Championship BBQ Contest.
Chesapeake Jubilee This will be my first contest this year but if you remember I took 8th Place Ribs in last year's State Championship in Richmond and a 3rd Place Pork in a National Event on Pennsylvania in August. To give you some background there are 3 main sanctioning groups that all lead up to their championships such as Memphis in May, The Royal and of course the Jack Daniel's Invitational. This is a Kansas City Barbecue Society contest so I will be cooking Pork Shoulder, Ribs, Beef Brisket and Chicken for this $10,000 total purse contest. If you can make it down come and see me and mention thewarpath.Net and get a taste of some winning BBQ! Look for my team banners and cops. lol New Team and Business Site: Pit Pirate BBQ - Award Winning Carolina Style BBQ - Home Wish me luck guys! Hail Skins and Pit Pirates! Arghhhhh! peace

Re: Chesapeake Jubilee BBQ Competition
Funny you ask about the leg. This Friday May 18th when I down there will be the 10 Year Anny. of the Hit and Run Crash that took my leg.
I was riding my 1996 Harley Fatboy back to my house from my brother's at 10:30 on a Sunday night when I was side swiped on my right side. I tried to get the bike back in my lane but I hit the median stripe and a 4x4 post dead on. The bike and I flipped and I had already ground my right foot. After I landed I looked like a fricking yard sale with bike and me peices everywhere. I was awake and looked up and saw the 2 red tail lights leave me to die. I knew I was hurt bad but I didn't know how bad. I stung and was bleeding from many places and my head was ringing like a fire alarm. My brother got to the scene about the time they were loading me on the Helocopter. I said "tell folks I'm ok I just broke my foot and got some cuts". I remember x-rays and all kins of crap and then back in the ER I noticed my family looking at me like I was dead or dieing. That's when it hit me "Oh man I must be really fucked up". Next thing I remember is it's morning and seeing my "now" wife Michele beside me. Then I saw my Daddy who raised me a Christian and he had a Bible. I closed my eyes and made a prayer to God. "God, I don't see any good in me and lossing this foot. I don't see your Will in this but, I beleieve in You and trust in Your Will. I'll take this if you give me the strength". I never complained or asked why me and folks were amazed at not only did I live through what the Police Report said was a fatal crash I survived but I had a great smile and attitude. It wasn't me it for God's help and love. People asked me if I had "seen the great white light?" and my answer is no. I saw Jesus and I was standing there all wrecked up and He said "What have you done?". I knew He knew all about the crash and was asking me what had I done for Him. I had no answer and was shamed but with kind words He encouraged me to "Get busy". That recolection could have been real, it could have been my imagination or heck the morphine but God got His message to me loud and clear. I have learned Volumes about myself and my strength and resolve and faith. If God came down and offered to give my foot back after 10 years but would take back this knowlege I would say no. Having said that if 10 years ago he said He would teach me great things at the cost of my foot I'm not sure I would make that deal either.lol Good thing His Will Reigns. That my story and testimony Thanks for asking bro peace

Re: Chesapeake Jubilee BBQ Competition
Nice to see such a positive attitude when something like this leaves many with a bitter out look on life. Your positive thinking will take you a long ways in life. Good luck and there's a good chance I'll see you there. I have a fishing tournament Saturday and my wife want to go on Sunday to try some of the tasty food. They had the Smithfield BBQ competion a few weeks back did you compete in that one?

Re: Chesapeake Jubilee BBQ Competition
Sorry I did not make it down to see you on Sunday. I forgot that my nephew was playing in a lacross tur. and I'd promised to go see him play. He was the smallest guy on the field and scored the most points in their 5 games. I'm glade I went he is a pretty tough kid and had some guys defending him that where 2 feet taller. Anyways how did you guys do this weekend and do you sell BBQ to people attended the fair? The reason I ask is because my buddy went Friday night and said none of the BBQ cookers where selling any food. I thought maybe because it was just getting started and none of their food would have been done.
