Just a Thought
I don't know about everyone here, but I feel really go about this team and the offseason. Everyone is in camp or coming soon. We added some key pieces, we definitely are better than last year. Everyone seems to be getting healthy.
And the MOST IMPORTANT THING. Everybody has a chip on their shoulder. NOBODY is predicting we do anything this year, everyone says we stink, everyone's unhappy, blah, blah, blah. If there is one thing I know about the Redskins is they play better when there is minimal change and nobody gives them a chance. Just look at thier history. I have faith this team will be really good this year. Remember even though we may get upset at things, Gibbs KNOWS what he is doing, WILLIAMS knows what he is doing. This team is going to be real good this year. |

Re: Just a Thought
the source is skinsfan242. but i hear what he is saying. if last season wasn't enough to embarrass everyone in the skins organization, from top to bottom, then i don't think anything can motivate these guys

Re: Just a Thought
I heard Sean Salisbury on his bush league radio show today saying "the Redskins always find a way to underachieve, so count them out." What a chump, I'm still waiting for that rank hank to walk to Washington D.C. I sent several emails to ESPN asking for an update on the situation over the years. Sadly, they never responded. That's how they treat their insider subscribers I guess.

Re: Just a Thought
djnemo, as much as I hope he's wrong this year, our past does nothing but vindicate that statement by Salisbury.

But I wouldn't be as bothered if he hadn't promised to walk to Washington DC from Connecticut if the Skins made the playoffs, only to wimp out of the deal like a whiny little weasel. Given that, I think he should back off bashing the Skins. |

Re: Just a Thought
Our season boils down to the following major factors that will contribute to a playoff run:
1. Improvement of JC over last season(is he a legitimate QB or was his success at Auburn due to the ungodly HB tandem he had behind him?) 2. Can the D line and the LB corp give us a great pass rush? Sure Landry can help, but we need the linemen to make a big impact for us. 3. Better numbers from our vaunted WR corp. All we have is Moss still. Randle El did some nice things for us, but in my opinion had some lame stats. Don't have to mention Lloyd's crappy season. When your main aerial threat is only Moss, your TE and RB's you are in trouble. If our aerial game is as lame as it was last season, with JC startingthe entire year, we will suck. Not only will we suck, but we might have a major QB problem on our hands. I wonder if we are looking at keeping Palmer at all? |

Re: Just a Thought
Another problem everyone is overlooking is the team chemistry aspect of it. Can you get 43 guys to gel and come together to act as two cohesive units(offens and defense) We have gobs of talent on offense, but they stink, with the execption of our runnning game. We have a potential disaster with 3 star WR's who will want the ball often, etc. I remember poor Dante Culpepper in the early days at Minnesota, having Chris Carter and Moss bitching at him often. I mean look at the Norv teams of the mid 90's. All we had really was Ken Harvey and Darrell Green. Big Daddy and Stubblefield were OK for like 2 s easons, but then faded. We had Gus, Westbrook, Connell, and an old Terry Allen, on offense. Those guys were not as talented as this crew, but did perform much better. How many 300 yard games did Ramsey, Brunell, or even JC have? Gus had plenty, especially against the Cards, and didn't have the tools like MB or JC have now at their disposal. Could you imagine what Gus would have done if he had Santana, Cooley, and Randle El? We would have made the playoffs for a few more years under Norv for sure.

Re: Just a Thought
I think it's a given that our season pretty much hinges on JC's success. Unless he completely falls apart, which I don't see happening, there's no major QB crisis in sight for the Redskins. If JC stays healthy, we're set for a long time. Plain and simple.
This kid, essentially, jumped from third string to starting last year and was more than decent on numerous occasions. And by all account so far this year, he has his eye on the prize. While I'm at, I might as well go on the record and say I think the Skins will go no less than 10-6 this year, 11-5 is within reach. |
