Talking Plasma HDTV, who has one, and what do you think?

I finally broke down and bought a New Sanyo 42" Plasma HDTV, man this thing is awesome. The Cox cable DVR box is wicked nice also, you can record one sporting event and watch another.....pretty slick, still learning how to use this thing, bought and hooked up today.

I can see this thing being wicked nice for football season, at the game in DC recording at home.

Come home after game and rewatch for all the little things you miss while at the game. Not to mention the storage space on the Cox box, I think the thing will store about 40/50 hours of record time, that's the entire season. geteeup!

Any feedback on others with similiar setup?

Re: Plasma HDTV, who has one, and what do you think?

I bought a vizio 42" from costco. I love it. It has a great picture and it was cheap enough so that if anything happens to it within the next 2 years (while its under warranty from costco) I won't feel jipped...

I'm happy with comcast's digital hdtv cable hooked up with hdmi cables, but they could offer more channels... i only get like 6 hd channels with them...

cograts..

I just signed up for ATT Uverse switching from Dishnetwork I'm kinda leary but it's cheaper for my setup, and I cant afford the $20 extra a month for dishes HD anyways and ATT it's free for a year. Anyways not to hi-jack or anything I got a 32" LCd which Im happy with for now

I have the Panasonic 42" Plasma HDTV. I love it. Do you have the HD channels too? If not, you MUST hook it up immediately. Redskin football in HD is the bomb!!! It's nice to watch the dirt and grass fly up in the air after Santana catches a td pass!

Very true. It's hard to believe how much sand there is on the field until you see it get kicked up when Portis turns the corner.

That's highly recommended by Consumer Reports too. I plan on getting a 42" and a 27" to replace the TVs in my house. It was "Best Budget LCD".

For the record Vizo has a poor rating with the BBB and also the subway by my job bought two one is already busted. I would pay the few hundred extra and get a better quailty tv. IMO.

Don't leave wally world out of your price shopping, you might be suprised. I had bought quite a few electronic items online, so that's were I started my search.

In the end....wally world had a blowout sale yesterday, WHATS NEW....no one could touch the price I got on my 42" Sanyo Plasma HD, 1/2 price and got the very last one. It is SWEET, I felt like I was at the hockey game last night.....to bad the Ducks didn't feel the same way.

I'm just stating what I read from CR. I really trust them for buying things. I have considered just paying the money and getting all Sonys, which seem to rate the highest. It's just a lot to basically pay double to get the same size TV.

Olevias also seem to rate very high in the budget scale.

Don't know how much you've been out shopping yet, but when we went to the local BEST BUY and looked at many brands. Clearly there were a few that were better quality, but the price was crazy high for what you got. SONY was one of those brands.

Look around, go out and kick tires. You might find buying that big name is not worth that inflated price. WE DID.

You can find an extremely HIGH END QUALITY, HD PLASMA TV, without the big name at an affordable price. And the prices continue to drop.

Re: Plasma HDTV, who has one, and what do you think?

For the casual TV user, the no name brands will do just fine. But I'd imagine the guys on this board are TV whores, and expect nothing but quality. However, always do your research.

My parents bought a 20 inch Vizio LCD to replace a very old Sony 9 inch under cabinet mount TV, and they love it. Hooked up to a Comcast HD DVR Box, and it looks great.

I've been checking out the Visio. I'm glad you posted the quality of the machine, as the price is CHEAP! I'm stocking my piggy bank as we speak for the purchase of a 42"
